mitsyclogs · 06/04/2012 00:25

Sebastian but depends on your surname

CointreauVersial · 06/04/2012 00:27

Jude

Sebastian

therewasalittlegirl · 06/04/2012 00:34

Thank you all. I think both go with surname!

We were set on Sebastian. But I am wobbling because whenever anyone asks what name we are thinking of and I say it, it seems to sound like 'spast'ian to my ears, which I don't like for obvious reasons?! But maybe I'm just being silly?! He would be Seb most of the time anyway, I'm sure.

Jude is an old favourite of ours (considered for DS1). But friend used it fairly recently for her DS's middle name. This puts DH off because to him it feels 'used', but I'm not sure that matters as friend's little one only has it as a middle!

This naming business is so tricky!

Sorry, not really keen on either (and the only Jude I know is a woman).

Msfickle · 06/04/2012 05:46

Sebastian has a bit of meaning this year doesn't it what with him being the man to bring the Olympics to London. Fit that reason I'd go with that one

HillyWallaby · 06/04/2012 05:49

I like both but I LOVE Sebastian, I think it is more of a classic and less likely to be a passing trend.

eggsanityshatching · 06/04/2012 06:13

Both lovely names but I'd choose Jude because I prefer short names.

maydaychild · 06/04/2012 06:16

I know a female Jude too
And a horrid 4 year old boy

My cousin is a drop dead gorgeous Sebastian though. Def go with Sebby

LittlePandaBear · 06/04/2012 10:06

My vote is for Sebastian, but like Jude too. Not much help, sorry!

IAmYourSingingTelegram · 06/04/2012 10:41

Definitely Sebastian. It's much nicer than Jude.

welovesausagedogs · 06/04/2012 11:03

Jude

therewasalittlegirl · 06/04/2012 11:59

Thank you all loads! My wobble is over, we're back to Seb!

Sebastian

Jess850 · 07/04/2012 18:48

They both are lovely I know an adorable Jude and a great Sebastian - you can't go wrong really :-) Although don't think of Jude the Obscure - depressing!

Momdeguerre · 07/04/2012 18:50

I like both but I think I would go for Jude.

BeaditAli · 07/04/2012 18:53

Jude... Love it
Sebastian....... Really not a fan at all, sorry

SmartiesMiniEggsRule · 07/04/2012 18:55

IMO Jude is short for Judith.
Definately Sebastian.

DialMforMummy · 07/04/2012 19:02

Jude. For me, Sebastian is the gay and annoying secretary of the PM in Little Britain!

racingheart · 07/04/2012 19:02

I prefer Sebastian. Very nice sound.

All the Judes I've known have been PITAs. And all the associations are negative (Jude the Obscure; Judas in the bible.) Whereas sebastian makes me think of the gorgeous tv series Belle & sebastian.

GoGoBananas · 07/04/2012 19:03

Sebastian is lovely, good choice.

Jude has become very faddy. Leapt from almost nowhere into the top 100 and still on the up. I know several small ones, split evenly between girls and boys.

Sebastian by a country mile.

mrsotter · 07/04/2012 19:06

Jude. Can't use it due to surname. Sad
