I really like Lara
Never hear it now Grin

squoosh · 04/04/2012 13:23

Lara

DoubleGlazing · 04/04/2012 14:55

They're all lovely :) Naomi is my favourite, then Vanessa and Anneliese. Lara is lovely too but I'd use Larissa as full name, with Lara for short.

Do they all go nicely with your surname, and have you thought of middle names yet?

doctordwt · 04/04/2012 15:02

Vanessa! Due a comeback.

In the same vein, Melissa. Beautiful.

Positiveplus · 04/04/2012 15:51

Like Naomi the best out of those. Lara is nice too.

Sisters of people I have known with those names include:
Tara
Yvette
Amy
Yvonne
Donna
Melanie

Naomi.

cookiesnap · 04/04/2012 18:22

lovely names with the exception of Anneliese, which seems a bit pretentious somehow. Vanessa is my favourite

Surf25 · 04/04/2012 19:17

Naomi - love it!

lurkinginthebackground · 04/04/2012 19:24

I think I would go with Vanessa.

carrotsandcelery · 04/04/2012 19:25

I like Lara the best.

GreyTS · 04/04/2012 19:29

Like Vanessa and Anneliese, both were on our list for DD1

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'm leaning towars Lara. Our surname is simple, 2 syllable, starting with C (hard sounding C).
I also love Diana, but not sure I'm brave enough - what do you think of Diana?

OP posts:
doctordwt · 05/04/2012 13:41

I actually like Diana a LOT.

Very glam.

If bravery is the only thing stopping you then BE BRAVE - I predict this one is going to come back big time in the next decade (and then you'd be kicking yourself) - it's a lovely name.

mumbaisapphire · 05/04/2012 15:55

I think they are all quite pretty. Anneliese is my favourite, although I prefer a simpler spellling of Annalise. Vanessa is a nice name, and I associate it with strong women. Lara is also nice and Naomi too. You have good taste.

Lara Anneliese would work as a fn/mn combo, or Lara Naomi?

pixiestix · 05/04/2012 16:59

Love Lara!

manicinsomniac · 06/04/2012 00:24

I love Lara and Naomi and think Vanessa is very pretty too

I'm not keen on Annalise or Diana

PercyFilth · 06/04/2012 01:53

Diana is a lovely name, and there have been plenty of glamorous Dianas besides the Spencer girl. Surprising that the name hasn't been more popular over the last 50 years or so.

Naomi is nice when pronounced with the stress on the first syllable NAY-omi. Not so much when people say Na-OH-mi.

Vanessa is a beautiful name, but I think you need to be beautiful to carry it off!

baskingseals · 06/04/2012 07:42

i love Annaliese. i think it was Anne Frank's full name. also like Diana.
not to keen on Lara - prefer Tara.

FondleWithCare · 06/04/2012 09:21

I like them all apart from Anneliese which I find frilly-sounding.

startail · 06/04/2012 09:37

Lara (Croft) tomb raider sorry.
Pretty name though.

I've known lovely one each of Vennessa Annalise and Naomi. The first must now be 55ish, Annalise was American and now 40 and Naomi an older teen so not common and all due a come back.

Sorry Diane/Diana are still Mum names like Sarah, Rachel, Claire and Susan. They were my school friends they are the DDs Mums'.

PercyFilth · 06/04/2012 11:12

I agree that Diane is dated, but I think you'd find Diana was far less popular. The 2 names have quite a different vibe to me, despite only differing by one letter.

ragged · 06/04/2012 11:54

I don't like any in OP, sorry. I badly wanted Diana but out for complicated reasons (nothing to do with HH).
I esp. don't like Annaliese, I knew one that left bad taste in mouth, and too easy to spell/say wrong.

ProlificYoungGentlemenBreeder · 06/04/2012 12:31

Lara :)

BBQJuly · 06/04/2012 12:44

Diana is a lovely name, and underused these days - due a comeback.
