My dh loves short names like Callie for girls, and I do too, but I can't help but feel like it should be a nickname. But can anyone help me think of nice names that this would work for? My help hubby and I come to an agreement on a girls name at last!!! Any ideas? Thanks x

I know a Callie who is Calandra.

BenedictsCumberbitch · 03/04/2012 16:06

I love Calliope, very Grey's Anatomy.

Petticoatsintherain · 03/04/2012 17:04

I know of a Callia- Greek meaning beautiful voice apparently.

TinkerMaloo · 04/04/2012 09:13

Just call her Callie! I worked with a girl called Cali once. I cant see the point in picking something you dont want to go on her birth cert when you arent ever going to use it anyway.

Callie is pretty :)

dyzzidi · 04/04/2012 09:17

I like calinda I think it's the name of a character in th good wife

TruthSweet · 04/04/2012 10:58

I have a Callia who we did consider calling Callie for short but we just kept it as Callia as it's such a pretty sound.

Calliope means beautiful voice
Callista means most beautiful
Calantha means beautiful flower
Callia means beautiful

RobinSparkles · 04/04/2012 11:02

I was just going to say Callista.

TruthSweet, I had never heard of the name Callia before - how pretty! :)

TruthSweet · 04/04/2012 11:52

It really suits her (if you ignore all the oozing eczema patches Wink) but I really wanted Calantha. However we decided with a Lilith and an Alethea, Calantha would sound odd so we went with Callia - glad we did!

CremeEggThief · 04/04/2012 12:33

Callice? Callicia?

rachrach2 · 20/12/2017 22:25

Callie is my favourite (Cali is my least favourite because of the state association).

BabloHoney · 20/12/2017 22:53

Cayley or at a push, maybe Cassandra or Camilla?

I love Callie as a name on it’s own though, I wouldn’t have a longer version unless you really want to!

Caitlin

Calla is lovely :)

Calandra, Calanthe, Calina and Calliope are nice as well imo.

CaptainChristmas · 21/12/2017 10:40

I love Callie, Calla and Caroline!

I don’t always like short names on the bc which sound like shortenings, but I really like Callie.

LoveInTokyo · 21/12/2017 19:09

Catherine or Camilla?

grasspigeons · 21/12/2017 19:32

I guess its not longer - but Calla is a nice name

Buntysoven · 22/12/2017 00:17

Oooh Callia...never heard that before. It's totally gorgeous. Would it be ok to potentially pinch it if OH likes it? I almost want to wake him up but he'd throttle me!

Joeybee · 22/12/2017 22:56

Calista or Calliope I'd say.

Rainbowandraindrops67 · 22/12/2017 23:22

Clarissa is fairly mainstream and lovely

horatioisabrick · 22/12/2017 23:25

I agree, Clarissa is lovely. But I’m rather biased.... Grin
