We were thinking of Evan for DS2 but after "trying" it for a little while we not sure anymore.
Considering Emmett. Would love to read views on either really. Also, does Emmett remind you of Twilight?

LOVE it ! if my dd had been a boy this was going to be her name! if i ever have another baby (not likely :( ) and its a boy then he will be Emmett :)

doesnt remind me of twilight, does remind me of dr emmett brown from back to the future, but they are awesome films Grin

ElphabaisWicked · 31/03/2012 17:06

It reminds me of Legally Blonde.

MagsAloof · 31/03/2012 17:08

I prefer Evan. It reminds me of Emmet Till, which is a bit macabre.

IAmYourSingingTelegram · 31/03/2012 17:28

I hate it.Evan is much nicer.

Emmett doesn't make me think of Twilight. It does make me think of the horrific murder of Emmett Till. Plus it's a derogatory name for tourists in Cornwall.

DoubleGlazing · 31/03/2012 17:34

How about Elliot?

LemonTurd · 31/03/2012 17:38

It makes me think of Emmett Till. Not sure whether you'd consider that a positive association, or not?

I really like the name though.

Oakmaiden · 31/03/2012 17:38

Emmet is Cornish for ant, and is used as a derogatory term for tourists.

And it makes me think of the Wurzels.

But apart from that, it is fine....

DoubleGlazing · 31/03/2012 17:41

Emmett sounds American (not good or bad, just a comment). Mind you, so does Elliot. Emmett... well it sounds like a kind of cross between Emmental cheese and rennet.

madaboutmadmen · 31/03/2012 17:42

I know you've discounted it but for what it's worth i think Evan is lovely.

Nothing wrong with Emmett just a bit unusual, doesn't grab me though.

LemonTurd · 31/03/2012 17:43

Just realised how badly worded my last post was Blush

Emmett's death, whilst horrific, galvanised the Civil Rights Movement.

leaves before I dig any deeper

PercyFilth · 31/03/2012 18:16

Isn't it a name for some sort of insect?

AWomanCalledHorse · 31/03/2012 18:17

I just think of Doc Brown from Back to the Future, can't see it suiting a child!

pixiestix · 31/03/2012 18:19

I'm Cornish so I agree with all the above posts! Grin

Evan OTOH is great.

susiedaisy · 31/03/2012 18:21

Emmett reminds me of twilight and back to the future, but it's a nice name

CupOfBrownJoy · 31/03/2012 18:22

Actually I quite like it.

Its sort of neat (as in "and tidy" not as in American "cool" Smile )

shinyblackgrape · 31/03/2012 18:27

Emmett reminds me of the brother of hyacinth bouquet's nervous neighbour Elizabeth in keeping up appearances.

anniewoo · 31/03/2012 18:29

Emmet -in ireland a hero in irish history was called robert emmet

JellyMould · 31/03/2012 18:31

I really like Emmett.

MyPetMonsterAndMe · 31/03/2012 18:48

I also really like Emmett.

JambalayaCodfishPie · 31/03/2012 18:51

Not overly keen on It, what about Emerson?

Onenightsleep · 31/03/2012 18:54

Thank you everyone do far for really good comments. Have not completely excluded Evan, it's interesting reading comments about both names. Any other suggestions?

It's a distinctive name. Bearing I mind the tragic death of Emmett Till and that it helped inspire the civil rights movement, I think would be a way of honouring the name.

messagetoyourudy · 31/03/2012 19:21

As long as he never goes to Cornwall - where it is a name for a tourist!
