Would love your opinions. Do any stand out for good or bad reasons?

DD1 is Hazel.

Criteria:

  1. Not top 100 ideally.
  2. Not beginning with M.
  3. Not too trendy.

Girls:
Helena (too much with Hazel?)
Iona (concerned this one doesn't work with surname)
Iris (trendy?)
Joy
Esther
Thea
Verity
Isolde
Cassia.

Boys:
Hector (Tor)
Benedict
Ambrose.
Ernest
Jude
Clement
Gregor
Emmett.

Thank you!

I like them all. I'm no good at these threads!

Iris and Hazel might be too ocular together, is my only thought (although I love both).

Cassia is gorgeous but not sure it goes with Hazel, if that's important to you.

Sorry. Not particularly helpful!

Thank you.

Do you think Iris is a little 'on trend?' or is that just me.

Girls middle name may be Rhoda after family which I think doesn't go with Cassia/Thea/Iona.

I love Helena, Thea, Clement and Ambrose.

I'd avoid Hector due its meaning (to bully/torment) and Benedict (as the one I knew was called Bendy Dick).

exoticfruits · 30/03/2012 21:48

Verity. I'm not keen on any of the boys. I liked Benedict best but Bendy Dick has put me off! You could shorten to Ben.

toobreathless · 31/03/2012 00:13

Comments like Benedict = bendy dick are very helpful as I hadn't thought of that.

Don't think the meaning of Hector would put me off BUT starting to think Hazel & Hector is a bit matchy.

Also like Gray for a boy. Front runners are probably Ambrose & Clement.

Girls:
Helena (too much with Hazel?) - lovely but would prob avoid alliterative siblings
Iona (concerned this one doesn't work with surname) Don't like
Iris (trendy?) - ok
Joy - love it
Esther - love Hester
Thea - ok
Verity - yes
Isolde - yum
Cassia. Prefer cassandra/Cassie

Boys:
Hector (Tor) - love Hector / hate Tor
Benedict - yes
Ambrose. - no
Ernest - I'm quite fond of this in a perverse way but Ernie is so hideous that I think it's a no
Jude - yes
Clement - no
Gregor - yes
Emmett. - horrible

IHeartKingThistle · 31/03/2012 00:37

I wanted Clem for a boy but got vetoed! Love that and Jude.

I quite like Verity, like Esther and love Joy.

And can I just say I LOOOVE Hazel!
