Rose or Gracie?

We are very nearly there with deciding a name for dd2!! Choice is likely Rose but possibly Gracie (not Grace) not sure which I prefer. I like Rosie more than rose but dp prefers rose and says he doesn't want her to be called Rosie if that is not her name! opinions please :)

We have a Rosie, Grace was also on the list. So clearly you have wonderful taste Wink You can always wait til she's born and see which 'fits' her best? We had a final 2 on the shortlist for ds and when
he arrived it just seemed obvious which name should be his!
Congratulations btw!

SoozyWoozy · 16/03/2012 21:19

I also have a Rosie and had Grace on the list, but DH vitoed (sp?!) it becuase it made him think of Grace Jones.... Hmm

My Rosie had, and still does have, the loveliest pink blush to her cheeks so it fits her perfectly :)

blondieminx · 16/03/2012 21:24

Rose is a lovely name, I really like the flower names Smile.

I know several Grace's of 2 or younger, think it's quite popular now.

ggirl · 16/03/2012 21:31

My dd is Rose , she's def not Rosie.

Funnily enough she says when she hears someone saying Grace she often mistakenly thinks they are saying Rose

Clandy · 16/03/2012 21:43

Ooh ggirl that is strange maybe they have a similar sound. I think we will probably wait and see what we think when she comes out for definite as that's what we did with dd1 (who is evie) but I like to have a name sorted around 90% sure before hand as it makes her seem more real iyswim?!?!

Not Gracie. Why the "ie"? Sounds really odd.

Rose is better, but kind of over-done.

painauchoc · 17/03/2012 11:39

Gracie is dreadful for anyone older than 3. Use Grace and call her Gracie if you prefer it! Rose is lovely also.

AnaisB · 17/03/2012 11:44

I really dislike Gracie, but like Rose and Rosa (not Rosie).

FreshwaterPlimpies · 17/03/2012 13:28

I think I like Rose most.. don't hear it quite as often as Grace and it has a really elegant, timeless sound. Rosie does make me think of Rosie and Jim a bit.. not that that's a bad thing:) I second AnaisB with Rosa, as a nn maybe?

boyfallingoutofthesky · 17/03/2012 15:14

Prefer Rose - Grace is nice but very popular, and would not use Gracie as given name, just as nickname for when she is little. I would go for Rose on the bc and you could call her Rosie as a nickname if you wanted to (though sounds like your partner might not let you!)

Also I always think I would avoid using Grace, just in case child is not Graceful!

TidyDancer · 17/03/2012 18:34

Rose is lovely. Gracie is too NN-ish for me.

RabidEchidna · 17/03/2012 18:37

Gracie

Clandy · 17/03/2012 19:08

Haha boyfallingoutofthesky that made me laugh as dd is the clumsiest little girl I have ever known so maybe best to stay away from grace if she is anything like her sister.
I prefer rosa but dp says it is too Spanish sounding!

I think Rose or Grace are nicest, IMO Evie and Gracie are a bit twee together.
Rose is probably less used as a first name than Grace.

RufflingFeathers · 17/03/2012 20:08

Gracie is lovely

Clandy · 17/03/2012 20:09

Dp says we can't have an ie ending name as sounds silly together! I do like rose just not a huge fan of names that are also things.... Think that is putting me off!

I have a Rose, she's just a few months old, and I'm so glad we chose it.

She does get called Rosy at times, but we opted for Rose, as I think it sounds a bit more "sophisticated" as a given name. It's something she can put on a job application in the future and not think 'they're going to think I'm five-years old!'

EsmeRosesmummy · 19/03/2012 23:47

I love Gracie, what about Gracie Rose? Rose is my bubbas middle name and i think it works beautifully as a second name x
