Our favourite name as a horrid connotation - can't think of another. Help!

For ages I thought that I would call a second DD Milena, after Milena Jesenska. We both love it. But it turns out that there is a poo-related medical condition called 'Malena' (SP?) which will be everyone's first thought when they hear the name.

Basically, I can't find another name we both like. We would like something reasonably short and uncomplicated, but slightly unusual, and it can't begin with 'F'. Our DD is called Elsa. Any suggestions?

popoozle yes, posset is baby sick LOL!

Amelia - a rare birth defect meaning without limb(s).

Sorry to any mums of Amelias!!! The name means work, I think.

I don't think anyone has suggested Mahala (Muh-har-luh) yet. I love this name, it was on DD's shortlist. It was reasonably popular at the beginning of the 20th Century and I'm surprised it's not more popular today.

Am biased because my DDs best friend is called Milena. She is adopted and is from Columbia. I think its a beautiful, elegant name that suits all ages and have never heard of the similar sounding medical condition and I am very well up on medical matters (I have watched Casualty and Holby City forever and read the Mail's health section, so Im virtually qualified to do open-heart surgery!LOL Seriously, wouldnt let this put you off. Its not like its a well known ailment such as flu or rubella or chickenpox.

How about

Mila
Alannah
Serena
Elena
Elin
Magdalena
Mahalia
Mella
Melania
Lyra
Lara

I know a teenage Mahala. Most unusual.

Alannah is nice, so is Serena. What about Sabina or Selene?

MrsBeakman · 17/03/2012 22:30

It is a very nice name and could be shortened to Millie or Lena, which are nice too.
