It's a girl - help!

Had 20 week scan yesterday and in all liklihood we're having another girl.
OH and I had several boys names we both love but hadn't agreed on a single girls name.
With DD1 we chose fairly quickly and both knew it was the one. Not sure we can come up with anything this time that's as perfect.

I love..
Holly
Isabel/Isobel
Libby (too close to DD1s name)

Like..
Kate
Carrie (OH doesn't like)
Cara
Cassie
Sadie
Amber (similar sounds to DD1's name)
Alexandra (alex/lex)
Seren
Emma
Freya
Georgia
Hannah
Indie (bit too nicknamey)
Charlie (worried they'd assume she's a boy)

OH likes..
Kate
Kara
Jessica
Libby
Holly
Amber
Georgie
Sam (worried they'd assume boy and too short for girl)

OH difficult as he will only really say yes/no to my list rather than coming up with his own!

Any other suggestions along the same lines? Don't like anything old fashioned eg florence or flowery eg Daisy. Surname begins with a P so don't want P name

I like Abby & Jessica together - it stood out to me from your list. I'd avoid anything else beginning with a vowel or too similar to Abby in terms of sound or letters. For that reason, I also like Abby & Freya and Abby & Georgia. Your husband likes Georgie, which works well as a nickname for Georgia, so I think that one might be your winner. I wouldn't use Georgie as the given name though as it is a little similar to Georgia - I'd just use it as a family/occasional nickname. Holly is an obvious choice too as you both like it.

With a clearly 100% feminine name for your first daughter, I don't think you can use a unisex name for baby number two so I'd rule out Charlie and Sam unless I was going to put Charlotte or Samantha on the birth certificate.

Cassie is lovely, as a shortened version of Cassia which I think is beautiful.

And I like Georgie, short for Georgia. A good mix of tomboy and feminine.

Go for Libby, it's fab!

sashh · 15/03/2012 05:37

Go for Holly - it on of your loves and dh likes it

From your list I like Holly and Cara and love Isabel, Sadie, Amber, Alexandra, Hannah and Jessica.

Indie, Cassie and Georgie are nice nicknames but I think I would go for India, Cassandra and Georgina if I wanted them.

I don't really like Libby, Emma, Carrie or Faye and I think all the others are nice enough but I'm not overly keen.

How about:
Amy, Alexis, Autumn, Bethan, Brooke, Cerys, Chloe, Erin, Eden, Ebony, Harper, Imogen, Jade, Kayla, Lacey, Lauren, Lyra, Macie, Molly, Megan Nicole, Natasha, Rachel, Robyn, Sydney, Sienna, Saffron, Taylor, Tara, Teagan, Willow, Xanthe, Zara, Zoe
