What do you think of the name Hudson for a boy?

My immediate thought although only those over a certain age will remember him.

MardyBra · 12/03/2012 08:14

Shit link failed. iPad still eluding me on links. Anyway thought Gordon Jacksonnas Hudson in Upstairs Downstairs.

ED1984 · 12/03/2012 08:15

He was a nice enough character in an old butlerish way - a bit like the butler in Downton. I would have thought most 40+s would think of him.

BillyBollyBandy · 12/03/2012 08:22

Hudon Bay or Hudson River

Newtothisstuff · 12/03/2012 08:22

I like it :-) I quite liked Hadleigh as well

ED1984 · 12/03/2012 08:23

Thanks- Hadleigh was also on our initial list!

Hadleigh o:

C0smos · 12/03/2012 10:12

Sounds more like a surname to me

sparkle12mar08 · 12/03/2012 10:54

Hudson Hawk, one of the worst films of all time, with Bruce Willis.
Paul Newman, played the Hudson Hornet in Cars.

Don't like it at all sorry, doesn't sound like a name to me. Out of the two I'd go with Monty, but neither are great for me.

Thefourcees · 12/03/2012 11:11

It does sound like a surname, but then so do a lot of names nowadays, although its more unusual than say Riley,Kennedy,Mason or Morgan. I actually quite like it.

Kveta · 12/03/2012 11:12

it's a river, surely?

I prefer Monty.

Tigresswoods · 12/03/2012 11:13

Wanted to call DS Hudson but DH didn't like it. Would have shortened to "Sonny" which I think is soooo cool.

FlirtyThirty · 12/03/2012 13:57

It's a river.

Showmethemhappyfeet · 12/03/2012 14:01

Love it! And Hadleigh, but thought that was a girls name. I wanted Hudson on the list if Dd has been a DS but I no a dig called Hudson. If loads of people I know didn't know the dog I still would have used it!

Clawdy · 12/03/2012 14:58

Sorry,Hudson will be forever a kind, slightly unctuous butler....and the Upstairs Downstairs theme comes into my head.....

MardyBra · 12/03/2012 15:11

MN 2030: AIBU to call my baby Carson?

Then all you young'uns will be saying "No it's a butler's name ffs.". Grin

FriendofDorothy · 12/03/2012 15:38

My nephew is Barnabas Hudson and I love it. I wish they had chosen Hudson as his first name!

shoobidoo · 12/03/2012 15:38

I like Hudson. It sounds masculine, cool and isn't overused as so many are these days. People are much more likely to remember a Hudson. Great choice imo!

LondonNadiy · 12/03/2012 16:39

Nice, but makes me think 'Will he fly planes'? (Plane in river) Don't like the nn potential there much either! But I prefer it to Monty.

WetAugust · 12/03/2012 21:23

Rock Hudson was a very famous 1950's fim star (heart throb) who died of AIDS.

ilovemybum · 12/03/2012 22:11

I know a man with the surname Hudson Hmm
