Why is ok to call your son Fox and not Badger? Should I be brave and start a trend?

Are you having a laugh?

Ecgwynn · 10/03/2012 22:33

A bit. But why is Fox acceptable then? What's the difference?

I've never heard of anyone called Fox other than Mr Mulder! I don't think either of them is a great first name TBH (sorry).

Maybe as a middle name so he can choose whether he wants to hide use it?

Figgygal · 10/03/2012 22:33

I don't think it's ok to call a child either to be honest why not stoat, panther or pangolin while we are at it Grin

PurplePidjin · 10/03/2012 22:34

Go for those old fashioned version, Brock.

Or have Bruin instead of the currently popular Ted Grin

Faverolles · 10/03/2012 22:35

I know someone with a son called Badger. Proper birth cert. stuff, not a nn.

Ecgwynn · 10/03/2012 22:37

I love Stoat.
Weasel?

badger.great name

and fur

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 10/03/2012 23:17

Badger is a ridiculous name. So is Fox, Wolf, Tiger and Weasel.

Robin is ok.

YuleingFanjo · 10/03/2012 23:34

how about Brock.

SpanglyGiraffe · 10/03/2012 23:37

Badger is ridiculous, and also the name of my cat so there's no way I could take it seriously. Fox is just as bad.
I do love Brock though!

FilterCoffee · 10/03/2012 23:43

Yeah, go for Badger if you like it Hmm

Rhubarbgarden · 11/03/2012 04:09

I used to work in a company where badger was used to mean gay (by the gays).

RnB · 11/03/2012 06:13

Love Fox!

mayanna123 · 11/03/2012 07:47

I know a Tiger, a Bear and a Robin. Not met a Badger yet.

pinkgirlythoughts · 11/03/2012 08:31

I know a Badger, but it is a nickname (for Reuben, I think)

ragged · 11/03/2012 08:39

To be foxy is to be attractive & clever.
Tigers are attractive, & have get up & go, too.
Bears... well, at least they're cuddly.
Robins are cute, sweet, clever & fast.
But Badger: to badger someone is to annoy. Badgers are notorious for their bad tempers. So it's not nice, is it? They aren't all the same sorts of names.

cerys74 · 11/03/2012 08:52

And don't forget that they're notorious tuberculosis-carriers, ragged!

LittlePandaBear · 11/03/2012 09:37

Baby Meerkat maybe? Grin

marshmallowpies · 13/03/2012 12:31

Lots of dogs seem to get called Badger and it's always confused me...you wouldn't call your cat Stoat, would you? (Or perhaps someone out there would...)

PercyFilth · 13/03/2012 14:12

Aardvark
Marsupial
Bandicoot
