Why is ok to call your son Fox and not Badger? Should I be brave and start a trend?

A bit. But why is Fox acceptable then? What's the difference?

I've never heard of anyone called Fox other than Mr Mulder! I don't think either of them is a great first name TBH (sorry).

Maybe as a middle name so he can choose whether he wants to hide use it?

I don't think it's ok to call a child either to be honest why not stoat, panther or pangolin while we are at it

Badger is a ridiculous name. So is Fox, Wolf, Tiger and Weasel.

Robin is ok.

Badger is ridiculous, and also the name of my cat so there's no way I could take it seriously. Fox is just as bad.

I know a Tiger, a Bear and a Robin. Not met a Badger yet.

I know a Badger, but it is a nickname (for Reuben, I think)

To be foxy is to be attractive & clever.
Tigers are attractive, & have get up & go, too.
Bears... well, at least they're cuddly.
Robins are cute, sweet, clever & fast.
But Badger: to badger someone is to annoy. Badgers are notorious for their bad tempers. So it's not nice, is it? They aren't all the same sorts of names.

And don't forget that they're notorious tuberculosis-carriers, ragged!

Lots of dogs seem to get called Badger and it's always confused me...you wouldn't call your cat Stoat, would you? (Or perhaps someone out there would...)
