  • Helena (huh-leen-a) - we live in Ireland and this is how everyone here pronounces it
  • Amelia
  • Emmeline
  • Annabel

My advice would be not to.

Choose from the list once she arrives, maybe she'll look more like one of them.

But for what it's worth, I think they are all lovely!!

PercyFilth · 10/03/2012 21:34

Annabel.

EdithWeston · 10/03/2012 21:36

My top two are Charlotte, then either Amelia or Annabel.

Emmeline

without a doubt. lovely, lovely name

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 10/03/2012 23:21

They're all nice in their own way I think

  • Charlotte - a bit dull, I know sooo many
  • Helena (huh-leen-a) - nice, but likely to be mispronounced I think
  • Amelia - nice
  • Emmeline - I always think it sounds like a cream or type of cheese
  • Annabel - pretty, but also popular

I think I'd go with Helena or Annabel

Emmeline Pankhurst
Charlotte Church
Naughty Amelia-Jane
Helena Bonham-Carter
Annabel Goldsmith/Karmel and other posh people

These are first images conjured by these names for me. No advice on which to choose, all fine.

Like them all, actually. Love Emmeline - it was on my list too, but DH isn't keen :( so that's my favourite.

Annabel is also lovely.

lurkinginthebackground · 11/03/2012 23:23

I like Emmeline best followed by Annabel.

midlandsnightnannybabysitter · 11/03/2012 23:25

I like Annabel best, like the nn's with it - belle, bella etc

  • Charlotte -- always sounds a bit formal to me
  • Helena (huh-leen-a) -- I knew two growing up in Ireland, one Hell-enna and one Hell-ee-na. I like both pronunciations.
  • Amelia -- can't get away from the 'mealy' in the middle. Makes me think 'mealy-mouthed', 'chicken -meal', 'meals-on-wheels', etc.
  • Emmeline -- lovely
  • Annabel -- lovely

I would have a hard tome choosing between Helena, Emmeline and Annabel. A really hard time. Gorgeous names.

Maybe Helena would win by a nose.
