Brother for Wills

DS2 is due shortly. DS1 is William, known mainly as Wills. I would have preferred something a bit more unusual, but just don't like many boys' names that are outside the top 10, let alone 100. I'm a teacher so most names have a face which is making this really tricky.

So far we're leaning towards Charles to be known as Charlie, but also like

Oliver
Harry (would be my first choice, but we can't have Wills and Harry)
Frederick (Freddie)
Sebastian
Thomas (well, not really, but like Tom)
Samuel (see above, not so keen but like Sam)
Noah (DH not keen)
James
Lawrence
Alistair
Cameron (prob a no thanks to David)
Theo/dore
Jasper

Probable front runner is Charles Jasper James

Surname is boring English beginning with W. Any thoughts on this or other suggestions along these lines? Thanks

If you want Harry go for it take no notice of others. I like James but not sure on Charles Jasper but as I say your choice. I also love Theodore nn Theo I can't have as have a Leo already. So I would go for Theodore James.

Thanks both of you. Thing is, I think it's the alliteration with the 's' that's drawing me to Charles Jasper James. Wills is William W... and I like the repeating letters.

I think this one would always be Charlie though, can't imagine calling him Charles day-to-day. I could just about manage having a William and Harry but DH is not at all keen.

Great list of names :)

William/Wills and Charles does make me think "royal family", as well as Wills and Harry as you've mentioned.

I particularly like Frederick/Freddie and Theodore/Theo. Wills and Freddie is a bit similar-sounding to Wills and Harry, though. So my top choice would be William and Theodore - Wills and Theo :)

James is a bit of a default middle name IMHO, it is mentioned a great deal as a middle name on here.

love James

Have you thought about Alexander?

Really like Charlie, Oliver, Sebastian, Tom, Sam and Theo (Teddy?)

Harry is great but I wouldn't have a Wills and Harry either personally.

EdithWeston · 03/03/2012 21:52

If you like repeating sounds, then the choices from your list I'd go for would be James, Alistair, and Thomas, and I'd consider adding Alexander, Marcus and Piers.

planetpotty · 03/03/2012 21:56

Oliver known as Ollie definitely!

Wills and Ollie Grin see best buddy brothers!

abbypumpkin · 06/03/2012 13:53

I wouldn't worry about having a william and a harry if you love both names. surely you're going to get people comment almost as much on a charles and a william (dad and son)? Harry James Jasper W
I reallt like Tom and Sam and wouldn't have a problem using just the shortened version

I love Oliver and Frederick (nn. Freddie). Your shortlist looks like mine for DS! Also like Sebastian and Charlie but not keen on Seb or Charles...Alexander or Nicholas might also work...

I think William and Harry is a bit much...but tbh William and Charles has similar issues IMO too...

hellokitty123 · 06/03/2012 18:30

Alexander Charles
Quentin Charles
Thomas Charles
Adam Charles

all go well with William imo.

useyourloaf · 06/03/2012 20:15

Thomas and Oliver would be my choices for first names. Harry is a lovely name too and I wouldn't be too bothered about Wills and Harry.

How about Henry, Edward, Edmund.
