Marta, Mathilde or Beatrice and Maxime, Luca or Frederick - help!

We're just two weeks away from the EDD and cannot decide on the final name! For first names we've narrowed it down to 3 for each gender but would like to know some pro and cons for each of them (Marta, Mathilde, Beatrice, Maxime, Luca and Frederick).
We are also completely stuck for middle names. All of our children have on french, one Italian and one English name and we want to keep it that way for our fourth. Could you suggest some combinations to go with our chosen first names?
Your help would be very much appriciated!

Frederick or Marta for me, sorry no good at suggesting middle names!

Beatrice or Frederick :)

squareheadcut · 27/02/2012 21:15

i like Luca

Stay123 · 27/02/2012 21:21

Marta or Luca are lovely

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 27/02/2012 21:22

Beatrice - I don't like, just not my taste
Mathilde - Matilda is quite popular at the moment, but this would be a nice twist or it may just always be spelt/pronounced wrong.
Marta - is pretty and different - It's my fave from your list.

I would suggest Elizabeth as a middle name. I think it goes well with all 3 first names.

Maxime - I don't like it
Luca - love, but very popular (DC2 has 2 in his class)
Frederik - like Freddie, but again popular (I know 4 little Freddies)

I would suggest James as a middle name.

I adore Mathilde, wished I had some French connections for DD.

The boys names I'm not sure of.

Bigteadrinker · 27/02/2012 21:32

I like Beatrice, Mathilde and Luca. Marta is just martyr to me. I don't like frederick. I like James, Elliot and Rowan for boys.

allyfe · 28/02/2012 13:24

I really like Beatrice, but it is reasonably popular I think. Mathilde I think is beautiful with a French accent, but actually not nice with an English pronunciation. I would go for Marta - it is a really pretty name. For the boys names, Maxime makes me think of Maxim in this country - so I'd say not. Frederique again, I love with a French accent, it is less lovely with an English one, but still nice. I like Luca best. Or Luke.

Fraktal · 28/02/2012 13:30

Frederique is the girl version, Frederic for a boy. Likewise be careful of Maxim(e).

I think Beatrice would work best for girls and any if your bit choices are a strong contender for me.

allyfe · 28/02/2012 13:42

Opps, my misspelling. Frederique came from me. OP had Frederick!

camarelia · 28/02/2012 18:28

Thanks. The accent problem is one we do have to take into consideration. DH is half french and does have a slight accent (grew up there) but I'm half Italian but grew up in england so no exotic accent whatsoever! With Frederick we really love the nn Freddy but not so much Frederick/Frederic. What else could use Freddy as a nn? (Also love the nn Freddy for Freida or Elfreda on a girl).

I love Freddie, also Max (Maxi). Out of the girls Marta is lovely :)

PlumSykes · 28/02/2012 20:39

Friend has a Beatrice and Mathilde (Bea and Tilly) love them both, although Mathilde will forever find her name spelt incorrectly. Marta is lovely (but will also forever be spelt wrong) so Martha might be easier all thru her life. Luca v popular now, which may or may not bother you.

Freddy could be short for Alfred.
