Just spotted this name in too 500 and quite like the sound of it.... What is the mumsnet verdict? Is it short for anything? TIA :)

I like it.
Can be short for Calista, Calliope,

manicinsomniac · 24/02/2012 21:07

Yes, I like it.

I taught one a few years ago. As far as I know, she was just Callie, it wasn't a nickname.

Nice

TwllBach · 24/02/2012 21:11

I love it but I don't like anything (that I know of) that it can be a short version of.

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 24/02/2012 21:15

I really like it.

I have a Callia and it gets lots of compliments (which we were going to NN Callie but Callia is short enough really!)

Callia means beautiful in Greek
Callista means most beautiful in Greek
Calliope means beautiful voice in Greek
Calantha means beautiful flower in Greek

Perhaps one of those with Callie as the NN?

TruthSweet Callia is a beautiful name, I've never heard it before

PeanutButterCupCake · 24/02/2012 22:32

Lovely....calliope off greys anatomy Smile

My Callia is Callia Seren which means Beautiful Star in Greek/Welsh. I absolutely love it, it suits a little girl but isn't too 'frilly' for an adult.

Plus it goes with Lilith and Alethea her sisters (though can see why I didn't go for Calantha even though I really wanted too - far to many 'th's)

Wheresmycaffeinedrip · 24/02/2012 22:40

Callie is a lovely name!!!! :)

oikopolis · 24/02/2012 22:51

Clandy · 25/02/2012 07:58

Thank you ladies. Callia is also a lovely name and has a lovely meaning, on the list it goes! Smile

My dd (2) is Evie... Evie and Callia/Callie. What do you think? Smile
