VoodooKitten · 24/02/2012 20:02

I like it too

birdofthenorth · 24/02/2012 20:05

Love it. Know a beautiful (adult) one who is often Bronny to friends.

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 24/02/2012 20:30

I like it.

I imagine she'll be an artist or a poet and live somewhere windswept and a bit isolated

DialMforMummy · 24/02/2012 20:36

Love it.

madaboutmadmen · 25/02/2012 21:15

Not sure about Bronwen, how about Branwen? look it up for its origins in Welsh mythology

chipsandpeas · 26/02/2012 21:05

i like it but im at an age where it does remind me of bronwen who was in neighbours

Tillyscoutsmum · 26/02/2012 21:08

Really pretty

DaisyAndConfused · 26/02/2012 21:14

My sis is Bronwyn. She loves it, she lives abroad and it's a name that travels well.

It's sometimes shortened to Bron, but mostly she uses her full name.

Go for it (whatever sp.) it's great!

DaisyAndConfused · 26/02/2012 21:17

PS - she's a PhD in micro biology and does cancer research, so not a windswept artist I'm afraid! Grin

stayathomegardener · 26/02/2012 21:20

Oh my sisters been a Bronwen for 40 years- and an Artist. It means white breasts in Welsh I believe Smile

DarrowbyEightFive · 26/02/2012 21:28

I do think it's a lovely name, but a friend who lives abroad does actually have trouble with the name (perhaps a different country to Daisy's sister). When she mails clients she doesn't know they often think she's male, and it leads to a bit of confusion and very embarrassed clients. But that might apply to any name that's not known in the country where you live, and you obviously can't know where your DC will one day want to live!

MamaLazarou · 27/02/2012 14:30

Really lovely name.

rednellie · 02/03/2012 20:56

It's the best name in the world. I may be biased. Grin

The Welsh spelling is Bronwen, as wyn endings are masculine. It means white breasted as a literal translation, but basically means pure of heart. It's phonetically spelt so not that hard to get on with.

Nicknames: Bron, Bronners, Bronny

marshmallowpies · 02/03/2012 21:01

I love it. Lots of Welsh names are lovely, but Bronwen I've been fond of since I was very young.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 02/03/2012 21:40

A beautiful name, and Bron or Bronnie are lovely nicknames

BlueAndRedMakePurple · 03/03/2012 08:37

My second cousin once removed (or something of that calibre!) is called Bronwen, she's blonde haired, blue eyes and very pretty (she was last time I saw her anyway). It's a lovely name. Her sisters all have welsh names too. Youngest was Myfanwy (i think it's spelt like that) and I always thought that was a cool name too.

GoldenDaffodil · 03/03/2012 23:26

It's lovely, and Rednellie is spot on with the translation. Personally I prefer Branwen (it's currently number 2 on our shortlist) but after getting very negative responses about it on MN and from some people I've tested it on in RL I'm having some doubts.
