Love, love the name Inigo (nn Indy) but nervous of people's reactions - do we chicken out and use it as a middle name or go with what we really want?!

Edward Inigo

Inigo Edward without a doubt
Inigo is a fabulous name! go with what you want.

middle names never ever get used, and if it's the name you really love I think you'll regret using it up as a middle name which no-one ever hears and you never get to say.
and even if you don't go with Inigo as a first name this time you might want to for future children!

Stellan · 21/02/2012 08:59

Edward Inigo unless you are Spanish or really posh.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 21/02/2012 09:01

Inigo Edward without a doubt.

Inigo is a fabulous name, is not that uncommon really.

It is by far my favourite name for a boy.

PopcornBiscuit · 21/02/2012 09:24

jaffacakehips · 21/02/2012 09:28

Badgerina · 09/03/2012 19:17

My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

MrsWembley · 09/03/2012 19:18

Bugger! You got there before me.Envy

ButterPecanMuffin · 09/03/2012 19:20

Inigo Edward - I think Inigo is a great name, cool and quirky.

Fayrazzled · 09/03/2012 19:34

Definitely Edward as a first name. Inigo is too try hard. And people will mis-pronounce it all the time.

Thetokengirl · 09/03/2012 19:37

Like the name Inigo, but if you have nn as Indy, surely that suggests his real name is indigo? So, I'd scrap the nn.
Also like Edward but slightly biased as I have one

MrsKitty · 09/03/2012 19:41

Inigo Edward. The other way round makes me want to sing E-I-E-I-O.

Jenniferturkington · 09/03/2012 19:42

Inigo, it's a great name Smile

thehomesecretary · 09/03/2012 19:45

Inigo. I have an Inigo. Have always loved the name and still love it every time I say it!!
Have only had positive reactions to my face so far...

ipanicked · 09/03/2012 20:06

Inigo definitely! Our friends called their DS Inigo and I was soooo Envy as hasn't even thought of it and LOVE it. But agree with the Indy/indigo comment. Our mates shorten it to Ini which is cute.

threeleftfeet · 09/03/2012 21:03

Inigo Edward, definitely! Inigo is a very strong contender on my list for DC2. Lovely name! :)

notnowImreading · 09/03/2012 21:07

Hello! My name is Inigo Edward. You killed my father. Prepare to die...Grin

If I ever have a son I'm going to call him Inigo for just that reason.

threeleftfeet · 09/03/2012 21:11

I'm convinced that with the mire unusual names, one of the biggest problems for many of the doubters is unfamiliarity. But once they get to know your DC as a real person, they become familiar with your child's name, the "strangeness" wears off and it simply becomes your DC's name.

FWIW A friend of mine is very annoyed with her DH for hands down vetoing the unusual name she loves, but now she's pregnant with DC2, DH has said that now he's got used to the name he's actually grown to like it and why don't they use it for DC2. But they really can't as DC1's name is effectively a "normalised" version of the name and both versions would be daft in one family. My mate is distinctly unimpressed!

mayanna123 · 09/03/2012 21:51

Inigo Edward - definately!!!

There are so many Edwards out there and, whilst it is perfectly acceptable name, it is a little dull and overused imo.

Inigo is cool, classy and much easier to remember.

Marmite2012 · 10/03/2012 16:22

I've never heard of Inigo...... but I quite like it.

How is it pronounced?

threeleftfeet · 10/03/2012 17:29

In - nig - oh

zipzap · 10/03/2012 21:39

Inigo - love it.

Not so keen on the Edward though, Blush don't think it scans as well as something like inigo James or inigo nathaniel - not necessarily those names, just those rhythms. Maybe I'm just biased - love the name inigo and would happily have used it but instead ended up with Edward as a middle name for ds2 which I really didn't want and I still find myself thinking how did I end up with a son who has Edward in his name?

BobblyGussets · 10/03/2012 21:42

Isn't Inigo a bit Rah! though? A bit hooray?

thisisyesterday · 10/03/2012 21:45

so what's his name OP????

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 11/03/2012 08:43

Inigo is really pretentious.
