Brother for Spencer?

Ds1 is called Spencer and Ds2 is due in a couple of months. We are really struggling with a name we like. I want something that is not weird or too unusual but also not too popular. I quite like old fashioned names. We like Bertie (but not any of the longer versions) and Stanley but have yet to find a name we love. It took us almost a week to name ds1 so wanted to be able to announce birth and name together this time!

Maxwell (Max for short).

Couldn't you just call him Bertie and not have a longer version? Some people don't lengthen Alex to Alexander.

Catsmamma · 19/02/2012 17:58

Max and Spencer? ... naughty

I was going to suggest Marcus.

loopydoo... Max and Spencer...? future purveyors of knickers perhaps??? Grin
Bertie is nice, not so keen on Stanley, it reminds me of old men,

loopydoo · 19/02/2012 18:06

Oh whoops - I just thought of it as Spencer and Maxwell, not the other way around - sorry Blush

befuzzled · 19/02/2012 18:08

I was going to say Spencer and Mack but I guess other way round is a bit M&S as well - does this matter though? I think you normally say eldest child and or longest name first

moojie · 19/02/2012 18:32

Yes we do need to avoid the m&s link! [Grin]

Actually I love Bertie but yet to convince dh. I might start calling the bump it and see if it sticks seeing as dh is yet to come up with any sensible suggestions!

You might like another surname name - e.g. Alcott, Alden, Anderson, Archer, Baylor, Beckett, Blake, Carter, Cole, Colton, Griffin, Harrison, Huxley, Lincoln, Logan, Nolan, Nicholson, Parker, Paxton, Pierce, Porter, Reed/Reid, Sawyer, Truman, Vaughan, Wyatt, etc. Maybe there's a gem in your family history you could use.

Equally, one of these might fit the bill - Alastair, Ambrose, August, Barnaby, Conrad, Dashiell, Dexter, Edwin, Emmett, Everett, Fergus, Francis, Gideon, Gregory, Holden, Hugo, Isaac, Jeremy, Julian, Jonah, Miles, Milo, Orson, Otis, Pascal, Roman, Rowan, Silas, Timothy, Tobias, Tristan, Winslow, Winston, Wesley.

My favourites are:
Spencer & August
Spencer & Barnaby
Spencer & Emmett
Spencer & Everett
Spencer & Julian
Spencer & Roman

I do really like Spencer & Albert (Bertie) though - it'd be a lovely choice.

I like the names that start with A- Adrian, Arthur etc... they sounds lovely with Spencer!
