Nn for Elliott?

I quite like Elliott, but my brain seems to have been corrupted by my 5 year old DS's love of rhymming and rude words, and I can't help wondering if it would turn into Smelly Elly in the playground. Is it inevitable or are there alternatives?

My brother is an Elliot, he gets called Ell by his friends or a shortened version of his surname - I used to call him Eleanor because he was a big girl pants but other than that it's fairly short anyway so most just stick with it

We have an Elliot in our family, most people stick to it, but he also gets called Elfie, Otty, El and Eli

really lovely name

I also went to school with one who was a Eli (said like the name Eli not Ellie) took me a few years before I kneew he was actually an Elliot.

I know a "SmellyBot" - of course he started off as an Elliot. He also gets "Nelly" and "Elly" and lots of elephant noises and mimes. Poor boy Sad

I have an Elliott (just about to be 8) and he has never been teased about the name to the best of my knowledge. He is generally known to most people as Ells or just Elliott. I sometimes call him Elli, sometimes Ells etc and when he was little his sister called him Elli Belly. There are a couple in his school in different years. I went to a fairly rough comprehensive school with a lovely Elliott and I don't remember him ever being teased about the name.

My cousin's name is Elliot and his parents have always called him George.

I have an Elliot - he gets called Ells mostly as a nn. Never had a problem with him being teased about his name - I think it's a great name of course!
