We both like the name Humphrey very much, but it does seem to be a love it or hate it name. What's the MN verdict?

No, even on a baby just silly and cutesy NOT clever.

Like 'Humphrey's Corner' baby clothes - ooh how winsome. NO.

Afropop · 15/02/2012 15:44

I had an imaginary friend called Humphrey. He was lovely and he always eat his greens and wore a cape.
On those reasons alone it is a great name.

FortiesCromarty · 15/02/2012 18:23

Very divided! Not trying to be cute, we just like it. I saw a teenager on a documentary called Humphrey and it really suited him.

I like it! But I love old fashioned names. If you both like it go for it!

Mrsmonkfish · 15/02/2012 20:50

Unless you are expecting a baby elephant, the answer is a resounding NO!

lilmamma · 15/02/2012 21:04

no very dated..

Florin · 15/02/2012 21:36

We loved it however friends and family all hated it so we are going for Jasper

saintmerryweather · 15/02/2012 22:04

its a horrible name, however people are suggesting Hector and Herbert which are just as bad imo

WetAugust · 16/02/2012 00:07

YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS I love it, it's definitely on my if I had another baby name list (which I won't )

midlandsnightnannybabysitter · 16/02/2012 08:52

Please don't! I teach at a secondary school 3 days pw and would feel VERY sorry for a 15yr old Humphrey!!!!!!!

FortiesCromarty · 16/02/2012 08:54

But how can a 15 year old Humphrey be any worse than the myriad Archies, Alfies, Reggies, Ronnies, Berties and equally appalling names? Humphrey is a proper name and lovely.

PestoPenguin · 16/02/2012 08:57

I agree Forties. I think it's better than all the ones you've listed. I like it more than Florence, Teddy etc as well.

FortiesCromarty · 16/02/2012 09:11

Thank you PestoPenguin! We'll see when he's born whether he looks like a baby Elephant or not Smile

cutteduppear · 16/02/2012 09:18

LaFilleSurLePont · 16/02/2012 13:07

I don't like those names you mentioned either,Forties, but at least you could introduce yourself without cringing. Humphrey is hideous.

DialMforMummy · 16/02/2012 13:20

I quite agree with you Forties.

NotAnotherNewNappy · 18/02/2012 08:02

Yes! Classic and cute.

PopcornBiscuit · 18/02/2012 10:20

I don't like it, but then I also dislike Reggie, Ronnie, Bertie etc.
