I really like it, but it doesn't sound right with any middle names! Maybe just a concise name.

vixsatis · 14/02/2012 08:16

He will be bullied. And what if he isn't handsome? If he's an ordinary looking 20 year old called Beau people will laugh.

FriskyMare · 14/02/2012 08:17

Don :o

hayley - i am not hormonal. Really i am not, on the other hand the op is. When pregnant I get obsessed with the most awful names. Absolutely obsessed. Fortunately dh vetos them and when my dc are a couple of months old and the hormones go I am so thankful and really don't understand what I was thinking of.

I love Beau Grin

missmiss · 14/02/2012 12:47

Bo ak.

JuluLu · 14/02/2012 12:59

Beau is HIDEOUS! Don't do it!

shockers · 14/02/2012 13:02

One of DS1's friends age 24) is called Beau. To my knowledge, he hasn't been bullied because of it... nor has his father before him of the same name. His brother has an even more 'out there' name and their surname is, frankly hilarious. However, both are confident, successful young men. I think the choice of name, coupled with the fact that their Mum is quite artistic, has resulted in them both being quite quirky individuals who suit their names.

Greenwing · 14/02/2012 15:29

Middle name - think it goes better with a longer name eg Jonathan, Nathaniel, Christopher, Alexander, Sebastian?

Thought immediately of the actor Beau Bridges - googled him, to see what his middle name was, only to discover that 'Beau' was his nickname, his real name was Lloyd Vernet Bridges!

(In common with other posters, I do think that in UK there is a problem with name; it has suddenly become a popular girl's name spelled either as the boy's name or as Bo / Boe. That does make it more difficult to use for a boy?)

Failsafe · 14/02/2012 17:06

Beau Harry
Beau Harrison
Beau James
Beau David

Failsafe · 14/02/2012 17:07

montsti
I like both your suggestions, Sebastian and Alexander

yousankmybattleship · 14/02/2012 17:13

Cripes OP, really?

If you are going to call him Beau then please please give him a nice ordinary middle name so he can use that instead!
Really hope your surname isn't Vine.

PercyFilth · 14/02/2012 19:22

justhayley "even if knowone in the world liked it, if you do that's all that matters"

Wrong. So very, very wrong.

minceorotherwise · 14/02/2012 19:26

On so many levels

ouryve · 14/02/2012 19:28

beau geste?

Seriously, OP, if you're going to call him Beau, you'd better hope he's made of tough stuff.

ouryve · 14/02/2012 19:31

DH says Selecta :o

HolyNoSheDittantBatman · 14/02/2012 19:40

I think you should just call him Beau. No middle name, no surname, just Beau. Like Cher or Madonna. Or go all out and call him Bodacious and Bo as a nn.

I actually quite like, I wouldn't use it, but I can think of a lot worse.

lurcherlover · 14/02/2012 19:44

Please don't call your son Beau. I am a teacher in a nice school with good kids, and even there the one unfortunate whose name is Beau gets constantly teased for it - usually Peep, but also prettyboy and others...why not use it as his middle name instead?

mathanxiety · 14/02/2012 19:49

James
Aaron
Andrew
Cameron
Hamish
Anthony
Austin

mathanxiety · 14/02/2012 19:49

Though I think he will be called Peep a lot unfortunately.

BelleStar · 15/02/2012 00:51

I really hope OP has stopped reading this thread! As someone has said she didn't ask for your opinions on the name. In response to a couple of your thoughts...it's not true that most people will respond in real life in the same way as on this thread. Those of you who've responded have done so mostly because you have a particularly strong feeling about it. I think most people won't have a massive response one way or the other...like with most names! I don't know if maybe it's a regional or trend thing but where I am and amongst my peers and colleagues the recent babies called Bo haven't raised an eyebrow at all. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's inherently hideous or awful, it just means you don't like it! Which is totally permissable. But the way this has been expressed here is not, unless this is what you've been asked to do.

mathanxiety · 15/02/2012 05:01

True BelleStar. There is really no guarantee about any name. I would never have come up with any of the fond nns my own DCs have been given by friends, nor would I take the bestowal of a nn as anything but a kind gesture unless it was clearly meant to be cruel (accompanied by a spit in the face or push to the ground), not even the nns given to my two redheads that focused on their hair colour. I think it's up to the individual how they feel and what they do about nns or any other comment made about their name or personal appearance, etc.
Beau was my dad's nn as a small boy, as it turns out, and I like it a lot.

melliebobs · 15/02/2012 09:49

i LOVE the name Beau and at one point was on our boys list (we're having a girl now so it's irrelevant) i think with it being one syllable you need to go for a 2-3 syllable middle name. Make it have a ring to it if you get my jist!

How about
Samuel
Nathanial
Dexter

seren82 · 15/02/2012 09:58

Emma Bunton's baby is called Beau Lee Jones. I think Beau Alexander (or something else that's long) sounds better.
