Struggling with Names - help?

Hi all,

This is my first post. I am due in 6 weeks and I am struggling with names, and my partner isn't much help!

I like quite traditional names, but seem can't seem to settle on a single name!

So far top runners are...

Boy - Nathan, Jake
used to quite like Jack, but gone off it now.

Not decided on middle name for a boy yet, but surname is Lambert.

Girl - Emily, Ellie
Or Alice, although don't like this as much!

The middle name for the girl begins with L, so need to be careful it's not too many L's with Ellie! Given surname is Lambert. Also means all first names starting with L sound silly!

What are people's opinions and do others have any other suggestions.

My husband isn't letting me discuss with friends or family - so I just want to bounce ideas of other people!

Many thanks.

All lovely. just wondering how you feel about outher kids having the same name. I ask because i work in a school and in every class there at least 2 jacks. Ellie is also amazingly popular. not an issue just in case it would be for you and you wern't aware.
Emilia is simular to elli but less l's. Hope you find the right one for you x

Elowen - Ellie as NN.

Love Nathan - would be on our shorlist!
Along with Joseph and Leon.
Jake is nice too though would go with Jacob and use Jake as the nn.

Girls wise, like Ellie - again would prob go for Eleanor and nn Ellie. Or maybe Elouise? Emily is ok, nn would be Em I guess - which also could be short for Emma or Emelda? Not keen on Alice.

Good luck and congrats!! Smile

Like your girls names but favourite by far is Emily and even better Emilia!

Not keen on the boys names - like Jack but not Jake or Nathan. Sorry just different taste to you. My favourites are William, Oliver, Sebastian, Benjamin, Frederick so I would recommend them but probably not at all to your taste.

Good luck!

Thanks for posts so far - very useful.

Didn't release Ellie was so popular - has put me off slightly now!

I prefer Nathaniel to Nathan and Jacob to Jake but the short versions are both nice too. I do love Jack though, despite it's popularity. Almost all the Jacks I teach are so lovely too.

Girls - I quite like Emily but don't like Ellie at all.
How about:
Emilia, Emmeline, Ella, Elena, Elianne, Eliana, Elin, Ellis, Erin, Enya, Elise, Elsa, Elisaveta?
