Archer?

What do we think of Archer for a boy? I think Archie's a great nn (yes, I know it's popular - doesn't bother me), but don't much like Archibald.

I thought Archer might be a good alternative for the birth certificate...along the lines of Hunter ie. strong and masculine. Then again, I could be losing the plot. Help!

The Archers, Radio 4.

Archers cheap and tacky alcoholic drink.

Why not just go with Archie?

Lexilicious · 12/02/2012 17:25

my great grandfather was called Archer Lewis. Great name. I floated it when we were expecting DS but DH thought it was too Victorian.

HeidiHole · 12/02/2012 17:28

I prefer it to Archibald as well. We considered it for DS (due May) also with nickname Archie but settled on James instead as Archer is just a wee bit out there for us, not "traditional" enough as we're very dull safe

But I do like it!

Showmethemhappyfeet · 12/02/2012 17:29

Love it! Miles better then Archibald! Go with Archer Grin

jaffacakehips · 12/02/2012 19:23

Ohhh I quite like this..go for it!

I'm so over Archibald stomp stomp unable to use it my ex was X Archibald but do love Archie.

Err reminds me of the Archers Peach Schnapps I drank as a student ( and the nasty hangovers afterwards)....

lionheart · 12/02/2012 19:37

Cool.

chummymummy7 · 12/02/2012 19:41

Quite surprised at the resoundingly positive reaction. Thanks.
As soon as I posted I thought about Jeffrey Archer and immediately thought I was in for a blasting.

Cupofbrown & SeaweedNK....aaah - long and happily forgotten memories of nights out on the Archers. The sickly sugar rush had more of an effect than the alcohol.

Right - this thread can come to an end now as we might well go for the name and don't want anyone else 'borrowing' it!

I love it, was in my (not DH's) shortlist. I worked with a man called Archer and it made him cool Grin
