Hypothetically, which would you choose?

I have 5 children already but my youngest is 2 and a half and I really want a baby again! I have yet to convince DH that we really need another (unsurprisingly!) but I'm hoping the right name might do the trick!

So, just hypthetically, because I'm all broody and this might kill or cure it, what do you think of this fantasy shortlist and do you have any other suggestions.

(I already have: Natasha, Rebecca, Matilda, Isabella and Abigail)

Girls:
Madeleine
Felicity
Savannah
Amy
Jessica
Juliette
Sorcha
Araminta (Minty)
Xanthe
Zara

Boys:
Aaron
Callum
Nicholas
Alexander
Patrick
Aiden
Nathaniel
Isaac
Noah
Oscar

Oooh- some gorgeous names there- I'm going for Felicity and Nathaniel.

EllenParsons · 10/02/2012 01:29

Zara or Nicholas - gorgeous!

DoctorKnickerbocker · 10/02/2012 01:34

You have great taste! My favourites from your lists are Juliet and Felicity, Nathaniel and Alexander.

Suggestions:
Eloise
Louisa
Susanna/h
Joseph
Elijah

Savannah and Araminta - NO.

CheerfulYank · 10/02/2012 02:22

Madeleine nice, but too close to Matilda IMO. They might get called Maddie and Mattie! :)

Felicity Very pretty

Savannah Don't really like, sorry. It has a pretty sound but it's a bit, for lack of a better term, "downmarket" here

Amy Ok, it has a very 80's feel to it to me, but is nice

Jessica I really like this actually!

Juliette I like this one

Sorcha I like this a lot, but I don't think it goes with your other girls' names

Araminta (Minty) I really like this one

Xanthe Same as Sorcha

Zara Pretty, but I don't like it as much as some of the others

Favorite from the Girls: Araminta, Jessica, or Felicity

Boys:
Aaron Ok
Callum Like this one
Nicholas Not bad
Alexander Nice but VERY popular here
Patrick Nice
Aiden Nice
Nathaniel Like this one a lot, this or Nathan are my top choices for my next boy
Isaac Nice
Noah Ok but VERY popular here
Oscar I like this one

Favorite from the Boys: Nathaniel or Oscar. I really like Aidan and Patrick but I think the other two sound more like your daughters' names in terms of style.

Good luck! :)

I love Madeleine for a girl, but my hubby pointed out that for our generation it would always make people think about Madeleine McCann - that didn't necessarily put me off until i mentioned it to my mum and she said exactly the same thing - just a thought.

Out of the others in your list, i love Xanthe for a girl (dh would never let me get away with that one) and Noah for a boy (but i'm biased because i have one!)

Littlecherublegs · 10/02/2012 09:45

You have some fab names listed there!

My favs are:
Jessica (like Jess)
Zara

Aiden
Nathaniel

pilates · 10/02/2012 10:08

Jessica (also like Jess and Jessie) is my favourite, also like Madeleine.

Alexander and Nathaniel are nice too.

thepigflu · 10/02/2012 10:55

Seren or Nadine.

woolly76 · 10/02/2012 10:56

Zanthe and nicolas

blameitonthecaffeine · 10/02/2012 14:27

Thanks for the feedback. As I said, not sure it will ever happen but I'm adding Seren and Joseph to my 'just in case' list too!

I have a Savannah and a Jessica so I am totally biased!
Also love Xanthe and Zara though.

Of the boys names I like Alexander, Nathaniel, Oscar and Noah the best.

Good selection though!

MamaLazarou · 11/02/2012 10:30

I think I'd go for Juliet - not Juliette. It's really pretty and romantic, and everyone can spell and pronounce it.

sparkle12mar08 · 11/02/2012 11:41

For girls the only ones on your list that appeal are Amy, Juliette or Madeleine, and sadly I think the latter is indelibly tainted by the McCann association, which is a great great shame because it's a beautiful looking and sounding name - I love it.

For boys I like Aaron, Callum, Nicholas and Alexander - already having two of that selection myself, Nicholas is probably my current favourite. Lovely classic name.

SoupDragon · 11/02/2012 11:44

Zara and Nathaniel.

SoupDragon · 11/02/2012 11:46

You have managed to include all three SmallDragons BTW :o Neither of the names I picked are theirs though...

GrownUp2012 · 11/02/2012 11:56

Jessica and Oscar are closest to my own choices.

Jess and Jessie are really pretty. (my exact choice for my DD, lol)

diddl · 11/02/2012 13:25

Felicity & Nathaniel.

Greenshirt · 11/02/2012 16:44

I have a Felicity,so am a bit biased! I also have a Hattie and a Dexter,any good?

duchesse · 11/02/2012 16:58

Since you have two of my daughters' names in your list, how about the third: Cecilia Grin

Or Benedict for a boy? (DS)

Oubliette0292 · 11/02/2012 22:23

Juliet and Isaac are my favourites.
