What do you think of this as a name? Expecting dc2 and love this for a girl but not sure if people will know how to spell/pronounce it!

Also looking for suggestions for boys names - ds is Thomas Noah but because of family tradition he goes by his middle name so is Noah and same would apply if this ones a boy (doesn't apply to girls luckily!)

Any thoughts?

Very lovely name. Just tell people how to spell it and pronounce it.

Are you looking for a boy's middle name but you have a first name, or both first name and mn, with the first name 'silent'?

kaymondo · 09/02/2012 20:35

Don't have either first or middle name for a boy so any suggestions gratefully received!

On my list for dd2. If I can get DH to agree!

LingDiLong · 09/02/2012 20:37

Beautiful! I love Welsh names and a close family member is Eleri.

Are you looking at Welsh boys names too?

boobellina · 09/02/2012 20:38

Love it my DD's best friend of the moment is Eleri and a rather fantastic wee lassie she is.

IHeartKingThistle · 09/02/2012 20:43

I've never seen it before and would have no idea how to pronounce it I'm afraid - it's really pretty though. Is it like Ellory or Elairy? Neither?

Plenty of names cause a bit of difficulty for some people like me but that's no reason not to use them if you love them!

mathanxiety · 09/02/2012 20:45

Middle name Owen, first name James?

LingDiLong · 09/02/2012 20:48

IHeart, it's El-eh-ree.

IHeartKingThistle · 09/02/2012 20:50

Thanks! It is very pretty.

CheerfulYank · 09/02/2012 20:58

I always thought it was ee-LAIR-ee. Blush Here we have lots of girls called Ellary, is that about the same?

It's pretty either way!

For a boy I like Math's suggestion of James Owen, called Owen. My dn is Owen James. :)

blameitonthecaffeine · 09/02/2012 23:00

Really beautiful!

Boys - Isaac Henry? Liam Alexander?

PopcornBiscuit · 09/02/2012 23:54

I didn't know how to pronounce Eleri.

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 09/02/2012 23:58

I teLl people to rhyme Eleri with Mary. Lovely name :)

DoctorKnickerbocker · 10/02/2012 01:39

Eleri is very pretty.

Joseph Alexander or Alexander Joseph?

BelleEnd · 10/02/2012 09:30

CheerfulYankhas it right- The stress is on the second e. It's my best friend's name, and I always call her Lairy :o

kaymondo · 10/02/2012 09:33

Thanks for the comments and suggestions everyone!

I really like Issac, that was my first choice for a boys name this time but hubby has veto'd it, so can't go for that. I do like Alexander as well, that was on our list last time so might have another think about that. James is nice too but there seems to be an awful lot of them about round by me and would like something a bit more unusual (although saying that, i thought Noah was unusual before we had ds and now they're everywhere but still the love the name so not that bothered). Doesn't necessarily have to be welsh names - we just liked eleri, and we were in wales when i found out i was pg so seemed quite appropriate!

Still early days so got lots of time to think but i'm just trying to get some ideas as hd is rubbish when it comes to names - pretty much says no to everything i suggest but doesn't actually suggest anything himself!

Eleni is lovely too.

SoozyWoozy · 10/02/2012 09:44

I love it lots! If I didn't have an Eloise I would steal :o

Llareggub · 10/02/2012 09:46

It doesn't rhyme with celery, and this is a common mistake people make. It is a lovely name.

PopcornBiscuit · 10/02/2012 09:54

It does sound a bit like lairy (loud-mouthed).

Hedwig3 · 10/02/2012 10:16

Ellory if you have a boy?

mrswee · 10/02/2012 11:56

Lovely name, I'd never heard it before but it's sweet. My 2 year old is Elsie Rose so I obv approve!

good luck with everything!

lalabaloo · 11/02/2012 19:18

Love the name, to be honest you can have pronunciation/spelling issues with even the most obvious of names so I wouldn't let that put me off using it personally. How about Elliot for a boy?

MyNameIsNotSusan · 12/02/2012 16:00

Eleri is lovely.
