Hope

We've had a pretty horrendous few weeks with high risk results from screening at 12w, waiting for an amnio and now waiting for the results.

We keep saying 'I hope...' and 'hopefully', so thought Hope would be a good mn if we have a girl. We have an awful surname so have to be very careful whith choices.

Are there any boys names which have a similar meaning to Hope? First names are very undecided. I love Megan but DH doesn't. Boys names are incredibly difficult, possibly Luke or Austin (family name).

Hope is DD's middle name as week used to live in Hope in Derbyshire. Is also know a Hope who was so called because she was 2 months early. It is a beautiful, meaingful name.

As for a male name with a similar meaning, eerm.I'll have a think. Are you religious ? Have you prayed for your baby? Samuel means ,'God has heard'.

I love the meaning, but my BF had a black labrador called Sam :)

No to Hope. Sorry to hear about your hard times, but naming a baby Hope is mawkish.

I think Hope is a lovely, pretty, simple name bit like Grace but less popular. Do not think it is mawkish, most people have personal reasons for choosing a name and it's not as if the reason will be broadcast whenever she is introduced.
