Dutch boys names

Can anyone suggest any nice Dutch boys names that work here too? One side of my family is Dutch and I'd like at least one of my children to have that reflected in their name. So hard to find a nice one though! I quite like Otto but my cousin nabbed that one recently. Would really appreciate any suggestions...

Gus! My half Dutch ds is going to be a Gus.

Or how about Luc, Antonius, Tobias, Bart, Sander?

I was the first person in NL for nearly 7 years not to call my son Luuk. ;)

As long as you steer clear of Freek and Goof (or Floor for a girl) all will be well Wink

VonHerrBurton · 03/02/2012 09:49

I think most of those names are lovely, OP. Strong and masculine and good at any age. Just tried to pick out a couple of 'particularly likes' but can't. Love 'em all.

VonHerrBurton · 03/02/2012 09:50

Sorry - popcornbiscuit! They were your suggestions, not OP's!

Coen also one to steer clear of.

Jeroen, Bart, Fons (Alphons), Mathijs, Jasper, Noud (Arnoud), Pim, all colleagues with nice sounding names.

rathlin · 03/02/2012 12:54

I have colleagues in pretty much every country around the world so a good source of names for me although I can struggle to know their gender on occasion. The one I deal with in NL is called Co which I quite like as nice and short. I used to deal with Jeroen and there was a Lucas too - not sure if names are actually Dutch.

rathlin · 03/02/2012 12:56

Sorry just re-read your list - I'd avoid Elmo as immediately makes me think of cutesy red furry monster.

Joris,
Jasper,

Thanks all, lots for us to think about here. Need to run them past my mum too and find out how the rl pronunciation fits with what's in my head.
