Cora. Bella is far too popular.

Cora

RitaMorgan · 29/01/2012 21:32

Cora, unless you want one of 500 Bellas at nursery Grin

StetsonsAreCool · 29/01/2012 21:33

Cora, for the same reasons as above. Plus, it's very lovely Smile

PopcornBiscuit · 29/01/2012 21:40

Bella, as nickname for Annabella or Isabella.

Not keen on Cora (apple corer) but do like Cara.

LaFilleSurLePont · 29/01/2012 21:41

Cora is lovely. Bella is nice but Cora is my favourite.

AuntingCarse · 29/01/2012 21:43

I have a Bella, so I am biased.. But she is the only one at her school.

YellowSparkle · 29/01/2012 21:44

Thanks, i prefer Cora. Just was wondered as i have had comments that its to harsh for a baby.

Cora Smile

LaFilleSurLePont · 29/01/2012 22:03

It works well at any age imho. It's a beautiful name.

PavlovtheCat · 29/01/2012 22:05

Bella. Not sure where you are based rita but the popularity has not yet caught on where I am. thankfully Grin not one that I know of, or at her school. either full or shortened name.

AuntingCarse · 29/01/2012 22:09

Same here Pavlov - I was fully expecting there to be a fair few when we moved back to London from abroad, pleasantly surprised to find that she is the only one, like you full or shortened.

StetsonsAreCool · 29/01/2012 22:16

I agree it's a name that works for all ages. Besides, they're a baby for potentially 1-2% of their life, so that doesn't matter so much. They're an adult for much longer than they are any other age group.

I know 6 baby Bellas. 2 actual Bellas, 2 Isabellas, 1 Annabella and 1 Bellatrix (yes, you read right). And those are just the under 2s! I know another 4 that are school age.

It is the Olivia of these parts. Although I know 3 of them too Smile

No Coras though. It is on my list for as yet unconceived potential future DD.

RitaMorgan · 29/01/2012 22:31

Yep, know a few baby Bella/Belle/Isabel/Isabelle/Isabellas etc and think it will only increase with the popularity of that vampire movie.

Littlecherublegs · 30/01/2012 10:47

Another vote for Cora - fab name!! Smile

HardCheese · 30/01/2012 15:23

If this baby wasn't a boy, Cora was one name we both liked - though I gather there's a Downton Abbey character of that name, so a leap in popuarity is being predicted...? Which would have annoyed us both, as weve liked it since knowing someone of that name in the late 80s...

flopsy1974 · 30/01/2012 16:33

Cora is a lovely name. Bella is ok for a toddler but does not sound right on an adult Smile

justhayley · 30/01/2012 18:59

I really like Cora heard teenagers talking about one the other day & thought it was lovely, first time iv heard it. Not keen on bella anyway but think there are faaaaaar to many of them at the moment

freerangeeggs · 30/01/2012 19:23

This makes me sad because Cora has been my intended baby name since I was about thirteen! It does deserve more attention though.

MrsBovary · 30/01/2012 19:39

Cora. Though nice also as a shortened form of Cordelia.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 30/01/2012 19:39

Cora. I really love it.

YellowSparkle · 30/01/2012 19:40

Thanks for all your opinions :) Cora is definitely top of the list atm!

I know one of each! I would say that with Bella there are a lot but also it is a shortening not a stand alone name unlike Cora.

awomenscorned · 31/01/2012 23:36

cora

Pixieonthemoor · 01/02/2012 14:23

Another vote for Cora here - one of my fave names even pre- Downton. Bella is just too Twilight for me and a really cute nickname for Cora is Corky - a la PG Wodehouse!!
