Having second thoughts... 7 weeks old!

We thought if this one was a girl she would be called Beatrice or Charlotte. I've really liked Beatrice all through pregnancy (although I went through a Catherine stage). My daughter has always liked Charlotte and its grown on me. I think my husband preferred Charlotte and in the first week after birth we kept alternating between the two.

I keep thinking I wished she was called Beatrice though. We wont have any more children and I love the name. I don't exactly not-like Charlotte as I do think that is also a lovely name so I guess it will grow on me.

7 weeks is too late to change it isn't it? Relatives, friends, etc all know her as Charlotte so she would grow up knowing she had her name changed.

Any thoughts? Or reassure me that I will grow to love her name!

It's not too late to change it, but in your situation I don't think I would. You like Charlotte, the rest of the family prefer it - as she gets older she will just be Charlotte to you.

DS's name was a bit of a compromise and I wasn't sure about it for ages (just called him "the baby") but at 18 months it is definitely his name.

How about lottie? It's very cute/pretty for Babies and little girls.

It's lovely - personally I prefer it Smile

I've wobbled like this after both my two DCs.

I don't think it's too late to change at all, if you want to - if it's a genuine desire, rather than just a wobble. I certainly know people who've changed their minds after several months - family and friends will adjust, and it's not as if the baby is going to have an identity crisis! Both pretty names.

I think both names are lovely and if you prefer Beatrice (and your DH likes it too, which is sounds as though he does) then you should change it as you will always wish you had (well I would anyway in your position), particularly as you are not having another child.

She is only seven weeks old and your family will accept it and get used to it and by the time she is six months old, no-one will really remember that she was ever anything else.

Both names are very pretty so you can't really go wrong!

Could just be sleep deprivation and hormones. You might find that if you changed it, you'd wish she was still called Charlotte! If the name Charlotte is growing on you it will probably continue to do so.
