Names for a girl

Right, seriously, seriously struggling for name for DC2 (am 38 weeks tomorrow). We have a boy's name.

Our favourite name, number 1 choice, has been used by close acquaintances in the last week and we are hesitating about using it - probably won't.

DH is French, I am a native English speaker. The name has to be easily pronounced in French and English. It can't be too French, but preferably with a European twist (we want DCs' names to reflect their mixed identity and not be). We live in France. DH doesn't like many French girls' names anyway.

Names that we are considering are: Flora, Athena (we both love this name, but both pronounce it differently which means it's a bit silly to choose it, in French the 'th' is a 't' sound), Felicity, Camilla, Stella (and we are considering all variations of those as well)

No names beginning with G or V.

Have trawled and trawled and trawled the baby name sites and we can't agree on anything. Please help!

Evangeline or Madeleine

flyingcloud · 26/01/2012 09:27

Why do I always lose my posts?

Elodie - we know too many of them and it's just too French
Cecily - not sure, a bit too Beatrix Potter for me, sounds like the name of a pet bunny.
Alice - we know too many of them (but love the name)
Anna - love this name
Rose - It's so common in France right now, we love it though, but it's everywhere
Ella - family usage
Isabelle and variations - I love, DH hates
Zoe - not me
Evangeline - hate the sound of this in English
Madeleine - Not a fan

I really do appreciate your suggestions.

DD's name was DH's choice, and while I like it now, I never LOVED it, it was just a suitable name (using above criteria). Having found the name I LOVED (see above again!) I am really struggling to make anything else fit, so I hope I don't seem ungrateful or disparaging of your suggestions or choices.

How often do you see the friend and is it really going to be a problem if you use the same name?
