A few name ideas, some a bit different!

I'm currently pregnant with DC3 and the need for a name is growing! However DH and I are poles apart when it comes to names so we need a bit of help combining our styles. DCs are Otis Malachy and Monty Jeremiah. I think what we're after is a biblical middle name and a more unusual first name. Some ideas we've had are

Boys
August
Marco
Cassius
Dashiell
Cosmo
Gray

Girls
Roxanne
Carmen
Beatrix
Cleo

What do you think and can you suggest others we might like?

Boys
August - bit odd unless born in August!
Marco - Cool, goes well with others
Cassius - don't like
Dashiell - sounds like a made-up name, sorry
Cosmo - quite nice, but I can only imagine it for a boy, not the man he'd grow into!
Gray - lovely

Girls
Roxanne - Bit dated
Carmen - Don't like - too many opera associations
Beatrix - Lovely
Cleo - Pretty, but could be teased for Clio car connection

Other suggestions:
Boys:
Seth
Ellis
Elias
Arlo
Tristan
Xavier
Felix
Tait
Benedict
Bennet

Girls:
Blythe
Rowen
Lara
Lydia
Elena
Sofia
Hermione
Camille
Celeste
Seren
Portia
Natasha
Felicity
Zoe

Gray, Cassius and Marco are great! Beatrix and Roxanne are very nice, too.

midlandsnightnannybabysitter · 22/01/2012 23:36

I like Cosmo & Cleo from your lists

lisaro · 23/01/2012 03:30

The girls names are inoffensive. Cosmo and Marco are the only barely passable names in the boys list.

mathanxiety · 23/01/2012 05:27

I love:
Carmen
Beatrix
Cleo

Marco
Cosmo
Dashiell

How about Romy or Lyra for a girl and Roman or Owen for your boys' list?

Montsti · 23/01/2012 08:39

I like Cassius and Beatrix but not keen on any of the others on your list. Good luck!

Littlecherublegs · 23/01/2012 10:16

I like Marco and Gray from your boys list, and Beatrix (though prefer Beatrice) for a girl. Cleo is my mum's dogs name, sorry!

Alternatives:
Cornelius
Amos
Lysander
Matheus
Tate
Jamieson

Meredith
Lydia
Cora
Regan
Cordelia
Wren

poppydaisy · 23/01/2012 10:57

I really like Cosmo and Marco and think they go well with Otis and Monty. How about Quentin, Felix or Arlo?
From your girls list I like Beatrix very much. Also like the suggestions of Lydia and Cora.

Boys
August - no
Marco - ok, but are you Italian?
Cassius - no
Dashiell - like this
Cosmo - no
Gray - like this.

How about: Digby, Corin, Austin, Bryn, Rufus, Seth

Girls
Roxanne - no
Carmen - no
Beatrix - like
Cleo - like

No suggestions for your girls' names sorry (or rather, too many!)

marshmallowpies · 23/01/2012 11:41

Don't really like any of the boys names, sorry, but the girls names are all lovely.

MadDash · 23/01/2012 19:42

Thanks for the feedback, I love the suggestions of Roman, Romy and Rufus.

I really don't like Dashiell, I'm afraid, but the other names on your list are great :)

How about:

Linus
Enzo
Oren
Corentin
Hayd(e)n
Remy
Evander

Zipporah
Arianna
Liora
Melina
Jessamine
Clara
Alienor
Ilona

OTTMummA · 23/01/2012 20:16

I know a right sleazball called Marco, so i don't like that one, sorry.

But i love Beatrix and Cosmo

What about

Raul
Gabriel
Eric

and

Lilanie
Penelope
Bridie

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 23/01/2012 20:48

Don't like any of your boys' names but August and Gray make the others look okay in comparison.

Like Beatrice but not Beatrix.

Sorry.

vitaminC · 23/01/2012 20:56

Actually, on reflection, I don't like Gray that much either!
It would be a bit like calling your little boy "bland" or "dull" :(

I tried to suggest Beatrix for one of my DDs, but my xH insisted it sounded like a character in Asterix Hmm

MadDash · 23/01/2012 21:37

I really love the suggestion of Haydn, although is it a bit boring?

Love Dashiell - such a cool name. Dash is such a great nickname.

PeanutButterCupCake · 23/01/2012 23:06

Cleo is beautiful Smile

lurkinginthebackground · 23/01/2012 23:12

August- I love this but think it might sound strange unless you have an August baby.
Marco- quite nice and not too "out there".
Cassius - like
Dashiell - like
Cosmo - becoming a bit over used.
Gray -ok

Girls
Roxanne - red light springs to mind.
Carmen - nice
Beatrix - a bit dull and wet
Cleo - no- a car or Cleo Laine.

MadDash · 24/01/2012 18:30

Would Augustus be a bit overkill?
