Hi we are TTC at mo so talking about names we like. Realised we have very different tastes. I like classic names like Beth, Bella, Maisie, Rose, Lily etc

DH likes Jessica, Melissa, Samantha etc

The only name do far we both like is Grace but as I can't think of a nice middle name to go with its about to be vetoed by DH. So I need your help Please.

I always wanted either May or Rose as a middle name but don't think either sits right with Grace.

We also have an usual surname that begins with M and ends with th

What about the 'full' version of one of your classic names? Elizabeth, Isabella/Isobel, Margaret?

CheerfulYank · 19/01/2012 13:19

My goddaughter is called Grace Allison. :)

crocodilesmiles · 19/01/2012 13:43

It would be a shame if the name was vetoed for the sake of a middle name! Let's see what we can do. Possible names could be....

Grace Ellen Grace Carys
Grace Faye Grace Jasmine
Grace Simone Grace Elizabeth
Grace Ellie
Grace Bryony
Grace Hannah
Grace Nicole

Having a middle name beginning with "E" would give her the lovely initials GEM.

Let us know what you pick!

Gillybobs · 19/01/2012 13:54

My goddaughter is Grace Elizabeth

makinglemonade · 19/01/2012 14:41

Thanks for the suggestions.

Red2011 - I like the 'full' versions but prefer a short name that people don't feel the need to shorten or give a nn

Cheerfulyank - hadn't considered Allison. The more I say them together the more I like it :)

Crocodilesmiles - lots of ideas thank u! I like Grace Ellen. I think short names work best with our longish surname

Gillybobs - think Grace Elizabeth is a lovely name, but I can't use Elizabeth :(

Thanks for taking the time

What do you think of Grace Anne? DH likes it but I'm not so sure.

Good job we have lots of time to decide :) We haven't found ANY boys names we both like !

chipmonkey · 19/01/2012 15:36

How about Grace Rosa?

makinglemonade · 19/01/2012 15:39

Can't use Louise

Like Grace Emily and Grace Amelia

Love Grace Rosa :) Actually really like Rosa as a first name now too

FriendofDorothy · 19/01/2012 16:00

I would have Grace Louise. Grace is my favourite name and it is what my name means and Louise is my sister's name.

Of course this is all theoretical as I can't sodding well get pregnant it would seem!

Gillybobs · 19/01/2012 16:00

I think ROsa Grace sounds amazing!

makinglemonade · 19/01/2012 16:02

Friendofdorothy- I know how you feel as we have been TTC for a while. Doing thugs like discussing fictional baby names does help me :)

Gillybobs - why didn't I think of that!! Love Rosa Grace. At the top of my list now. DH better like it lol

How long have you been trying for makinglemonade?

shouldnotbehere · 19/01/2012 16:04

Grace Elizabeth

Red2011 · 19/01/2012 16:05

Rosa Grace sounds lovely!
I must say I was given a 'long' name, which I don't really like, so always use the shortened version. BUT when applying for jobs etc. I use my full (given) name. I have a friend who has given her DC's names that are 'cute and contemporary' which are fine...but....when it comes to job applications etc. in teen years, the names don't have any alternatives or 'full' versions. (Eg. calling her son 'Tommy' rather than 'Thomas' may be rather limiting in choices for him when he's older)

makinglemonade · 19/01/2012 16:11

Friendsofdorothy We've been proper trying for 4 months although we havent been using protection for a few years. We are gonna give it 2/3 months then go to doc. What about you?

Grace Alice.

FriendofDorothy · 19/01/2012 16:27

We have been trying for 17 months. Waiting for an appointment to the fertility clinic now.

makinglemonade · 19/01/2012 16:40

friendsofdorothy it's so difficult when you see everyone around you PG. I seem to have very fertile friends. Feel free to pm me if you need a rant or want to offload to someone who knows how you feel. Best of luck with the clinic

Mi4 Grace Alice is nice but I can just hear my thinks he's a comedian dad singing 'who the fuck is Alice!'

OP posts:
Methe · 19/01/2012 16:44

Grace Eleanor
Grace Constance
Grace Sarah
Grace Elizabeth
Grace Evangeline

Raeray · 19/01/2012 17:03

How about
Grace Ella
Grace Laura
Grace Miranda

clare8allthepies · 19/01/2012 17:12

Mine is a Grace Amelia, I think a longer middle name goes better with a 1 syllable first name

makinglemonade · 19/01/2012 17:28

Thanks for those suggestions. I think I like 2 short names together as our surname is longish and has to be repeated and spelt every bloody time!

I do like Eleanor and Amelia too though. Think Eleanor Grace sounds better than Grace Eleanor.

I'm off work I'll at the mo and have waaaay too much time on my hands :D

I have a Grace Elizabeth Smile

I think choosing a name for a reason can mean more, like a name that's been in the family. It is really a personal choice though choose one you are both happy with and more importantly one you daughter can live with the rest of her life :)
