I'm 36 weeks today with DD1, and I've finally come up with a first name but I'm still struggling to come up with a middle name.

First name is Anouska, nn Anouk, surname begins with an 'A' All I can come up with in the way of middle names is the usual boring stuff, I haven't fallen in love with anything yet.

Any suggestions? :)

I'd be tempted to have a little joke with Katherine (AKA)... You definitely can't have Grace Grin

Violet or Delun would give you initials of Ava and Ada... is there a name you could make that you like?

DharmaBumpkin · 17/01/2012 20:51

Love the name :-)

Short or long surname? If it's long, I'd be tempted to go for a short middle name...

I like Hope & Grace, but then you'd have initials of AGA or AHA... How about:

Joy
Faith
Jo
Meg
Anne
Claire

Sannebanana · 17/01/2012 20:56

FaithHopeAndKevin I know, that's part of the trouble! Somehow I think I'll be avoiding the Ks and Gs! :o

Dharma- surname is 3 syllibles, also ends in 'A'.

Love Rosalie and Violet, I'll add them to my list :)

LOVE your name choice!

Are there any family names that might work? We picked grandmothers' names for my first DD. We thought it added a bit of meaning, otherwise we had no idea.

Anouska is quite an 'exotic' name, or you looking for something similar of going v traditional to counteract? I would personally stay away from another A name other with the surname you'd have an A overkill.
Any country/book/artist etc that you love?

anonacfr · 17/01/2012 23:40

Btw Violet is DD2's middle name. DD1 picked it. Grin

WelshMoth · 18/01/2012 09:36

Love Anouke, Sanne.

Have you thought of putting Anouke as the middle name and putting something ahead of it (and still call her Anouke, of course).

Milly Anouke
Matilda Anouke (shortened version, Tilly Anouke)

olefina · 18/01/2012 15:35

my first thought was May then Blythe. With a long first name and surname I was drawn to short middle names but then jesters Miriam jumped out. Also Marianne, Madeline, Emilia, Elizabeth, Loralie, Beatrice, Isobel, Meredith.

TheCrunchUnderfoot · 18/01/2012 16:30

I've read your other threads - is it your own surname you're giving her? Hope so...

Anouska Beatrice
Anouska Josephine
Anouska Romilly
Anouska Nell
Anouska Fay

Anouska Blythe is amazing!

anonacfr · 18/01/2012 19:12

Love Blythe. Marianne too.
Anousfa Fay sounds really pretty.

Sannebanana · 18/01/2012 20:19

TheCrunch- yes it's my surname :)

I love Marianne Anouk, I'm a big Jane Austen fan and it's a family name. Trouble is that Anouk is a Dutch form of Anne, I wonder if I could be 'Anne' overload? Most of the other family names I could use are all fairly uncommon in English and 'Anouska' is uncommon already, so I think something less 'out there' might be best. The family middle name that gets used lots is Katerina, but then the initials would be AKA :o

OK... so what do you think of these?

Anouska Violet A...
Anouska Beatrice (is ABA too close to ABBA?)
Anouska Rosalie/ Rosalie Anouk
Anouska Marianne
Anouska Helen

Or any other suggestions welcome!

Anouska Violet sounds lovely. I have a fondness for flower names- Lily's pretty too.

The rest of your list is pretty good! The only one I don't love I Rosalie. I like the name but I don't think it 'fits' Anouska as well as the other names you've picked. Anouska Rose would work better IMO.

ImperialBlether · 23/01/2012 17:41

I think you need a one syllable middle name as the first and last names have three syllables apiece.

Anouska May A...
Anouska Rose A...

would each be lovely.

Thumbwitch · 28/01/2012 12:01

Anouska is such a pretty name!

I also tend towards suggesting a shorter middle name, maybe something like
Marie
Leah/Leila
Rose
Lily
Seren
Irene
Erin
Faith

CecilyP · 28/01/2012 12:11

Jane
Marie
Rose
May
Jo
Grace
Lily
Molly
Violet
