I like Lawrence Edward.

Or Lawrence Xavier/Xavier Lawrence (thus using both of your favourite names Grin)

jaffacakehips · 13/01/2012 22:27

John's my father and i know he'd be so delighted. Now that i think about it...he's the only 1 syllable name in our family, apart from Hugh.

I like Xavier John, Xavier Charles and Lawrence Edward.

I would say ZAV-ee-er.

Ben Roethlisberger to play Sunday, Maurkice Pouncey limited
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says he aggravated his sprained left ankle in 13-9 win at Cleveland last weekend but expects to play in the wild card game at Denver on Sunday.

Roethlisberger says he experienced a ?setback? early in the third quarter but isn?t sure when it happened. He completed 23 of 40 passes for 221 yards while taking every snap.

A sprained left ankle won't keep Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger out of Sunday's AFC wild card game in Denver, but one could sideline starting center Maurkice Pouncey.

Center Maurkice Pouncey (left ankle) was also limited in practice.Pouncey was listed as questionable on the Pittsburgh Steelers ' injury report and was unlikely to play after missing practice Thursday and Friday because of increased soreness in his left ankle. The Pro Bowl center played in the regular season finale against Cleveland last week after missing two games but complained of problems with the ankle following Wednesday's practice.

Dalton Back At Practice for the Bengals

Andy Dalton was back in the locker room on Thursday morning and said he is ready to practice today. Dalton came down with the flu on Wednesday morning, forcing him to miss an important practice for a playoff game in Houston only three days away. He went to a hospital for treatment to help him recover quickly, and was back at Paul Brown Stadium on Thursday morning.

?I feel great. It was a tough day yesterday, but I feel a lot better than I did. I?ll be out there practicing and be ready to go,? Dalton said. ?It was just a one-day thing. It was kind of out of nowhere. But I feel good now, so that?s a good thing.?

Coach Marvin Lewis? thought Dalton was up to date on the offensive plan.

The Cincinnati Bengals are trying to get their first playoff win since the 1990 season, when they beat the Houston Oilers. They've made the playoffs only three times in the last 21 years, losing their opening games in 2005 and 2009.

It'll be Dalton's second time seeing the Houston Texans defense. Houston came to Paul Brown Stadium on Dec. 11 and clinched the AFC South title with a 20-19 win behind rookie quarterback T.J. Yates' last-minute drive.

Maple Leafs trade Luca Caputi to Ducks for Deschamps

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Tuesday that the club has sent power forward Luca Caputi to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Ducks forward Nicolas Deschamps.

Caputi struggled with injuries and consistency his entire stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs and gets a change of scenery by heading to Southern California.

This season with the Marlies, Caputi has scored a meager two goals and added one assist in 21 games.

The 21-year-old Deschamps, who turns 22 Friday, was the 35th overall pick in the 2008 draft by the Ducks and has yet to play in an NHL game. He had five goals in 35 games for Syracuse of the American Hockey League. Caputi had two goals for the AHL team in Toronto.

Caputi, 23, the 111th overall pick in the 2007 draft, has played in 35 games, all with the Penguins, and scored three goals.

Lawrence Edward is lovely

Lawrence Xavier also works really well too and also the other way around.

I have a Lawrence he is Lawrence David like the lorries!!

dementedma · 14/01/2012 21:37

Ha vee air is the correct pronunciation, usually here it is Za vee yay.
Can I suggest you change the spelling of Lawrence, to Laurence? it looks SO much nicer IMO!
Laurence Edward is nice but it depends on the surname. Laurence Xavier doesn't run together too well to my ear, other way round is better.

mycatsaysach · 14/01/2012 21:38

lawrence henry Smile

jaffacakehips · 15/01/2012 09:18

Personally for me Xavier John is edging it. However I do really like Lawrence Edward

We would say it...ecks-ZAY-vee-er. The Zay-vee-er seems imo quite American Hmm

Not sure about changing the W in Lawrence to a U, I don't like the nn Larry or Laurie hence why if we kept the W it's unlikely {wishful thinking} that it won't become Larry etc.

We already have a DD - which works better?

Honor and Xavier
Honor and Lawrence

OP posts:
crazycatlady · 15/01/2012 15:33

My Lawrence is with a W (DH said the other spelling is girly Hmm) and so far no shortenings. I thought before he was born we would shorten to Laurie but it just doesn't suit him, so he is just Lawrence and no-one has tried to shorten it.

dementedma · 15/01/2012 18:48

on name shortenings, if you don't like it just don't accept it and it won't happen. My DDS both have shortened versions which they are happy with but DS is Joseph and will be Joe/Joey over my dead body. Grin. He won't answer to Joe anyway, so think I've suitable brainwashed him.
My boss - in his late 50s- is Laurence, no Laurie's or Larrys. I think it's a nice name but I do prefer the "u" spelling
