I love this name for our first DC if it's a boy, what's the general feeling?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DreamsOfSteam · 12/01/2012 15:45

I like it. I may be biased though. I know a barney and he is the lovelest young man i know!

RabidEchidna · 12/01/2012 15:45

Barnaby/Barney is a great name Grin but I am biased

DreamsOfSteam · 12/01/2012 15:46

loveliest even. don't know what a lovelest is Blush

Kayano · 12/01/2012 15:51

I think of how I met your Mother Blush

Faverolles · 12/01/2012 15:52

I think of a large, purple, irritating dinosaur.
Sorry.

Montsti · 12/01/2012 16:09

I have no problem with the name as such...but am with Faverolles and think of the most irritating big purple monster!

SootySweepandSue · 12/01/2012 16:10

Love it. Don't think barney the dinosaur is that popular in the UK.

onadifferentplanet · 12/01/2012 16:12

Another biased one here but I love it. nearly 14 now and has never once been compared with a large purple dinosaur.

LaFilleSurLePont · 12/01/2012 18:13

Horrid.

Mayvis · 12/01/2012 20:54

I quite like it.

lemonpuff · 12/01/2012 21:40

can be a nickname for Brendan

hugebump3 · 12/01/2012 21:46

It sounds a little childish/silly to me. Don't know whether it's because of the purple dinosaur association or the -ney ending. I guess I prefer more 'solid' names personally.

picnicbasketcase · 12/01/2012 21:47

I thought it was a slang term for a big hairy fanjo.

But it is a patronising purple dinosaur as well.

Figgyrolls · 12/01/2012 21:48

Love it, but again I know a rather lovely one Smile first heard it and thought - yuk- but truly love it now.

susiedaisy · 12/01/2012 21:49

Our friends had a lovely cocker spaniel called BarneyGrin

xxcozxx · 13/01/2012 01:30

the dinosaur?? himym??? unless you are EXCEEDINGLY posh..ermm..nope...you dont have to copy mumsnet faves you know :/ aka pretentious yuck names mocked in RL! how would james, marcus, william, joshua, leonard suit? less of the wilburs and tristans :P :P

FetaCheeny · 13/01/2012 20:41

Dinosaur... sorry. I think of it more as a name for a pet.
Prefer Barnaby but still not keen.

susiedaisy · 13/01/2012 22:34

Meet a lady today who had a lovely golden lab called BarneySmile

DottieRose · 13/01/2012 22:39

I really like it, though I think I would go for Barnaby on birth cert and the Barney as nn!

Beamur · 13/01/2012 22:41

I like it too. It was one of our top 2 boys names.

stleger · 13/01/2012 22:49
