Okay we are calling her Florence, and nicknames are not all that important in the grand scheme of things, but, what is your favourite nn for Florence?

I hate Flo with a passion!

Floss/Flossie. We call DD that for some reason and her name is nothing to do with Florence!

shoobidoo · 11/01/2012 12:55

If you hate Flo with a passion, I'd think again about naming your dd Florence.

PercyFilth · 11/01/2012 13:00

None of the nns for Florence are nice.

PosieParker · 11/01/2012 13:01

True, Florence is a lovely name, all nns are wrank.

Marinn · 11/01/2012 13:12

Flo is the obvious one, hard to avoid once she's at school/work so if you hate it i'd possible reconsider!

Flora is a nicer alternative imo and less likely to get Flo as short enough not to neeed a nickname.

rebecklet · 11/01/2012 13:13

I agree with Marinn, Flora might be a better option.

MrsOzz · 11/01/2012 13:47

I know three Florence's. 1 is 8 and a Floss. Another is 15 and always has been a Florrie. Another is 25 and known as Fozzle to her friends and FozzleBear to her boyfriend lol.

Florrie
Lori
Wren
Cece
Fifi

Flo, Flora (like this!), Floss, Flossie, Flozza, Flojo, Flopsie.... :)
The only Flo I know is 13 months old and coudnt care less what we call her!

3boysgirlontheway · 11/01/2012 14:09

Oh I like Wren or Cece. I just wonder if it will actually be shortened, because even though it looks long written down, it is only two syllables.
My own name is much shorter (written down) but, has 3 syllables and is never shortened iykwim?

Then again if she is called Flo she will be my Flo and I am sure I will love it because it is her name :)

Whilst I like Florence I agree that it hasn't got any nice nicknames. A Flo is a flea in German, by the way Smile.

3boysgirlontheway · 12/01/2012 11:46

Well after hours of talking about this last night I think that Floss is perfect for the little girl I hope she will be ;)

we will introduce her as Florence, but, I am going to call her Floss!
