I'm not keen but I think I will be in a minority!

PrancingPony · 10/01/2012 05:37

Love love love it, it's our chosen name if we had a dd2.

Only slight downside (depending on your politics) being that David Cameron recently stole used it.

Florence jack or Alternative is Sophie jack.

Florence is lovely. Sophie is nice but there are loads of them around where I live Smile

Florence is very 'trendy' and will continue rising up the popularity charts imo. I didn't know a single baby Florence 5 years ago. Now I know three under age 3. This may or may not bother you (or her).

I'm also not keen on Flo, Florrie or Flossie to be honest.

3boysgirlontheway · 10/01/2012 10:14

I love it and it is what we are calling our daughter who is due in 8 weeks. However I am slightly bothered by how popular it looks to be becoming. Our DD will be called after her Great Grandmother who was Florence.

There were 608 girls born in England & Wales and named Florence in 2011 and it was the 94th most popular girls name, up 11 places on 2010.

Floriane is pretty.

rachel234 · 10/01/2012 10:21

Agree that is becoming VERY popular. I know two baby Florences born in 2011.

Yes, Floriane is gorgeous!

Mollydoggerson · 10/01/2012 10:22

I prefer Felicity. I'm not that keen on Florence, it's fine, nice, pretty-ish, but I don't like Florrie or Flow.

StellaAndFries · 10/01/2012 10:22

I love it, I have a beautiful little brownie called Florence.

squeak2392 · 10/01/2012 17:43

Not keen on Florence at all, sorry. I liked it for about 2 weeks at the beginning of last year, but now I find it quite boring and a little ugly.
Honestly, I thought it had gone out of favour, since today is the first time in a long while I've seen it mentioned, but I'm informed on another thread that that's not true.

Sophie is nice, but a bit plain. Adore Sophia though, if that's not too popular where you are.

Florence is a lovely name; I really like it.
