I am having a dd and I have always loved the name Skye being Scottish however my surname is jack. How can I use Skye with the surname jack without sounding like a joke? Any suggestions?

You can't!

It sounds like a Thing, not a person.

Can you get married find a name that Skye is a nickname for?

PieMistress · 07/01/2012 19:40

What about a form of Skye? I know somebody whose daughter is Skyelar which wouldn't sound so bad with Jack?

I thought of Iona too but then you might get ' I own a Jack' IYSWIM

Luckymuffins · 07/01/2012 19:49

Mmm agreed. Such a shame. Any names you mums can recommend?

Ailsa

If you really want to use it, you could give her three first names? X skye x jack. That separates the skye and the jack, but it's a lot of names to think of, especially if you have more DC!

PieMistress · 07/01/2012 22:54

Inez ? It's spanish for Agnes?

oikopolis · 08/01/2012 03:00

please don't use Skye Jack, it definitely sounds like a terrorist taking over a plane and crashing it somewhere.

hohohoshedittant · 08/01/2012 03:10

Could you change alter your surname? Maybe add your mother's maiden name/your maiden name to make it double barrelled?

Or give up on Skye, but Skye Jack is a no-no.

Definitely use Skye as a middle name if you like it. Shame about Iona as it's also lovely but 'I own a Jack' just doesn't work.

Mirren Jack
Mhairi Jack
Bryony Jack

I would avoid any name ending with A as it makes Jack sound like a noun.
