Don't like any boy names!

I have a problem, i don't know the sex of my baby yet (11wks), but i can only think of girl names that i like, i already have ds1, and i love his name, as soon as i heard it, that was it, it was his name.

But am starting to think about boy names, because even though i strongly feel that this one is a girl, i can not rule it out that this one could be a boy,,, however, i just can't find one boy name i like!
Well i can but a woman i work with has used it for her DS 6 months ago, so i couldn't use it IYKWIM.
I don't even know what to do about it really, DH has mentioned a few names but they are not my cup of tea, ie, jack, charlie, tyler etc.
They are ok, but im not drawn at all to any of them.
Help me find a name i like?
My sons name is Owen, and would like it to go well with it.

hmm, Eric, not bad.
I like softer sounding names, the K ending is a bit harsh.

Great - please report back. I love the name but won't be having any more dc's so need to pursuade someone else to use it!There need to be more Eric's in this world.

EdithWeston · 05/01/2012 14:29

How about: Angus, Dominic, Marcus, Piers, Aidan, Frederick, Christopher (Kit), Caspar, Fergus?

Sirzy · 05/01/2012 14:31

I would use the name you like, a colleague using it wouldnt be enough to mean it couldnt be used imo

Marinn · 05/01/2012 14:33

Stefan is quite a softer sounding name.

Eric is great.

Euan
Nathaniel
George

strandednomore · 05/01/2012 14:36

oooh yes Stefan is another of my favourites.

OTTMummA · 05/01/2012 14:41

George! I have a feeling DH won't like it though.

I sort of know what you mean OTTMummA, I have one DS and three DDs and have always struggled to find boys names I really love. My DS is Henry, which I do really like, it has a lovely family connection and suits him to a tee. But I can't say I was as immediately drawn to it as I was with the girls' names.

Currently ten weeks pregnant with DC5 and still loving Stanley and Ivan (both contenders for DD4 when she was born last year) and Benedict and Arthur are both growing on me.

OTTMummA · 05/01/2012 14:57

I like Stanley, but again, already have one in the family, all my cousins have cherry picked the best names IMO.
And Henry is my close friends little boy, so can't use that, but it is such a lovely name.
I did think of Albie, as in short for Albert, but again, DH cringed at that.
I can't win with him.

strawberrypenguin · 05/01/2012 16:12

I think it is fine to use a name that a colleague has used. Different if close friend or relative.
