Girls names ...

My and DP were in love with the name Elvis but we have recently discovered we are having a baby girl. We are so happy, but we are back to the drawing board on names. DP is a bit of a rockstar (in my eyes anyway :P) and we want our little girl to have a rock star name. However I like really feminine vowelly names so a bit of both worlds

Here's the list so far :

Aurora
Aurelie
Amelie
Layla
Stella
Scarlett

Thoughts? Suggestions more than welcome.

Aurora - pretty but depends very much on the surname and doesn't shorten obviously. Difficult to say quickly.
Aurelie - ditto but not as nice!
Amelie - boring and will date terribly
Layla - definitely rock star
Stella - okaaay. Always thought it a bit harsh. What about Estella? lovely.
Scarlett - cant stand this name, too try hard.

erm. Morgana? Rowan? Lila?

Kayano · 03/01/2012 08:09

I would
Say avoid '...ie' names if you want rock star. They are quite
'cutesy' ATM

seeker · 03/01/2012 08:11

Stella

AnotherMincepie · 03/01/2012 08:28

Aurora - lovely
Aurelie - not keen
Amelie - a bit faddy, why not Amelia?
Layla - OK
Stella - nice, though prefer Estella
Scarlett - OK, but wouldn't use due to scarlet woman connotations

3boysgirlontheway · 03/01/2012 09:43

Aurora is fab, it is my favourite on your list. I like Stella least.

cece · 03/01/2012 09:47

I only like Stella from that list.

How about

Esther?

Not sure I know what you mean by a 'rock star' name? Do you mean copy a cuurent rock star?

LizzieChickens · 03/01/2012 10:14

Rock star - how about Ramona?

imissbrie · 03/01/2012 17:12

Ohh I like Ramona, DP isn't sure about it though, DP and I also like Sadie and Charlotte, I think people think of Sadie as an old woman's name but I think its really cute :)

Aurora - nice, not v rock star though
Aurelie - sounds like "orally" in English. so no.
Amelie - overdone. it's all "that French movie" to me.
Layla - ok. Little bit stripperish to my ear, but that's personal associations possibly. Quite rock'n'roll with the Clapton song etc.
Stella - love, though this isn't rock-starry to me.
Scarlett - my guilty pleasure, I love this. Quite rock n roll too.

CrackerHatsandStetsonsAreCool · 03/01/2012 22:56

I like Aurora (nn Rory) and Stella and Sadie.

I quite like Harry for a girl, could be short for Harriet which, granted, isn't really that rock star!

fanjodisfunction · 04/01/2012 10:59

Rockstar names that come to my mind are

Susie
Roxanne/a
Pattie
Angie

though Layla is the ultimate rockstar name

Aurora - gorgeous, and quite rock star-y
Aurelie - To me it always sounds like 'Orally' unless you are French and can pronounce it properly
Amelie - Pretty, not very rock star
Layla - not a fan
Stella - the baby Stellas I know belong to quite straight-laced middle class parents, so to me not very rock star-y though I get where you're coming from
Scarlett - not a fan

a few random suggestions -

Zephyra?
Tippi? (I know it's an actress name, but it sounds kind of rock star to me)
Kim?
Cleo?

FinnRoe · 04/01/2012 14:41

Aurora and Aurelia are on our list for this bump, they're both gorgeous! For Aurelia we were thinking of the nn Rae or Lia (similar to Layla from your list).
