Middle name for Florence?

3boysgirlontheway · 02/01/2012 15:49

We have decided on Florence for our first little girl who is due in just over 9 weeks now.

It is an old family name, and while we haven't used family names before we just love this name.

I would like to throw a little whimsy in with her middle name, which really won't be used anyway, but, it would be nice to have something she might love iykwim?

I am currently liking:
Florence Primrose
Florence Beatrice
Florence Bluebell
Florence Meredith

Any thoughts or suggestions? I am also open to using two middle names if that would work. Our surname is long and old English. Along the lines of Wainsworth but, it starts with a strong "A" sound.

Thanks.

Florence Elizabeth
Florence Evangeline
Florence Amelia

Like the old fashioned flowery ones in your list.
I think Florence is quite whimsical in itself so I would be tempted to go for full on drama queen for a middle name:
Florence Mariella
Florence Augusta
Florence Juliana
Florence Marguerite
Florence Penelope

AnotherMincepie · 02/01/2012 16:42

Florence Lucy
Florence Jasmine
Florence Mary
Florence Daisy

Thanks for all the suggestions. Do you think Florence is "girly" I so want it to be, after 3 boys I want to embrace the feminine side of this naming business!

Yes it's very girly and such a pretty name

Tuppence2 · 02/01/2012 19:20

I love the pairing of Florence Primrose you suggested OP.
My gran was Florence Evelyn and I have always loved both names. Considering Florence as a middle name should I ever have another DD.

Ihatecbeebies · 02/01/2012 19:59

I love the suggestion of Florence Rose,

SilkStalkings · 03/01/2012 16:05

Yes, none more girly Grin.

Thanks, I am leaning towards Florence Primrose. Of course when I say "I" I do mean "We" Smile

I'm not sure if I would use an obviously floral name after Florence.

I love Florence Beatrice or even Florence Beatrix.

Florence Matilda
Florence Antoinette
Florence Clarissa
Florence Marianne
Florence Isobel/Isabella
Florence Mirabel
Florence Eleanora

Prunella79 · 03/01/2012 23:58

Florence Rose, simple, classic, beautiful

ceebie · 05/01/2012 14:01

Oh dear. I think Primrose and Bluebell are horrendous - sorry! Just one opinion though, so don't mind me. Not greatly keen on Meredith or Beatrice either, so clearly we have different tastes. Yet I love Florence - if I was expecting a DD instead of DS, she probably would have been Florence Lucy.

ceebie · 05/01/2012 14:02

Florence Annabelle?

PercyFilth · 05/01/2012 14:09

Nightingale

redrubyshoes · 05/01/2012 14:11

Florence Edith

3boysgirlontheway · 05/01/2012 15:36

She was nearly Florence Edith but, the "th" sound put us off. Florence Beatrice is hubbies favourite.

Of your list of four, Beatrice is my favourite middle name. The floral related names are nice but I think they're a bit much along with Florence. At least with Beatrice, if she doesn't like Florence when she's older she can call herself Bea (I know someone who did that)

ceebie · 05/01/2012 19:32

Yes I guess of the four Beatrice is the best!

mathanxiety · 05/01/2012 19:39

How about Florence Madeleine or Florence Emmeline?

herethereandeverywhere · 05/01/2012 22:08

Mine is a Florence Alice.

Great name choice! Wink
