Hello - DH and I like this name for a boy (and also its nickname Eli) but was interested to see what anyone else thought - does anyone have a DC called this or know anyone that does? :)

I love it, was almost chosen for DS. I know a little Eli who is adorable :).

I have a 9 year old called Elijah, he prefers to be called Eli. WE love it, get lots of positive comments on it (especially at church!)
I think it is a lovely, strong sounding name, with just the right edge of softness (I hate it with a hard 'j' so we use soft 'j')

A famous couple who I don't recognise had a baby a couple of days ago and called him Elijah. I know this because my sil was talking about it last night but I forget who she was talking about.

Anyway... she was talking about it because we were discussing baby names and I mentioned how much I LOVE Elijah. It's a fabulous name. Not at all surprising that tummytickler has one as I've never seen her like a name I don't also adore. It's wonderful. Strong, bit different but recognisable, has a bit of a soft edge to it, shortens well etc.

It's a lovely name and was on our short list for DC 3.

Btw it is angellica bell and Michael underwood's son who has been called that SOH - according to google he is also a children's tv presenter (had heard of her, not of him) - just incase that influences you op!

Love it!
Not a name I would use as we seem to prefer the more common names but I think it's a really nice name!

KeepInMindItsChristmas · 31/12/2011 11:26

LaFilleSurLePont · 31/12/2011 12:37

Love it.

DessieLou · 01/01/2012 14:54

Love Elijah but not so keen on Eli. Not sure that help!

nikster · 01/01/2012 15:45

I love both - Elijah and Eli. Eli was on my list for a while - very cute yet strong for the man he'll grow into.

Toobluntforsleighbells · 01/01/2012 15:46

Love it too!

comedaygoday · 01/01/2012 15:58

DS1 aged 4 is called Elijah. I love the name. It's strong and traditional without being over used or faddy. I don't know any other Elijahs IRL although it generally gets good reactions.

A close friend of mine has a DS (3) who is Elijah Smile I love it, it's all grown up but still little boy all at once Smile

broccolitrees · 01/01/2012 18:08

i really like it
we are considering it if this baby is a boy, but i too have a friend whose ds (also 3 jently) is called elijah

rootietootie · 01/01/2012 18:12

I love this name, this was a strong contender for ds2 along with elliot.

greenmoo · 01/01/2012 19:10

Made the acquaintance of somebody a couple of years ago whose little boy was called Elijah. We liked it and considered it as a name - it was about 150 on the name charts in 2010 if I remember right.

nooka · 01/01/2012 20:26

My ds's best friend is an Elijah, mostly known as Eli. I think it's a cool name. I also hand reared a duck called Elijah Grin

citymumtobe · 01/01/2012 20:47

Thanks all - think it's definitely a winner if we have a boy!!

It is DS3's middle name and we only discounted it as a first name because DS2 is Levi and the nn Eli was too similar to Levi. Go for it, it is fantastic.
