Finding a name is causing arguments!!!

My partner and I are really struggling. I may only be16-17 weeks but he's being such a stick in the mud I feel like I have to start this topic rather early. We both agree that we won't really know until baby is born but we still throw names around (we're as bad as one another). To start with he liked Finlay for a boy and now he hates it! picking preliminaries is hard enough without him moving the goal posts!!! I really like Elizabeth for a girl and it makes him see red! I've pointed out that we can shorten that to so many different names like Lizzy, Bette, Elise, Liza, Beth, etc and he's having none of it. It's getting to the point where we are sniding at each other because we can't agree... Any suggestions on how to fix this without either killing him or being a sneaky little bisim...

Get your spreadsheet out. List all the names you can stand, print them out and ask him to tick off the ones he likes. Then ask him to date and sign it, and keep it. Pick the name from the ones he's said he likes. Run a few past him, from most favourite to least... when you get to one he likes enough, stop there, and that's the name.

Do be nice to him about it, though. There's no point falling out over the name... you'll need to reach a compromise, it's his baby too.
