Help us decide. Also, which one's now more popular?

Beatrice. Martha is so dowdy.

Martha

I prefer Beatrice.

I find Martha a bit worthy and dull I'm afraid, sorry.

LaFilleSurLePont · 29/12/2011 13:00

I don't like either. They're both horrid, but Martha is marginally better.

AwayinaKayzr · 29/12/2011 13:01

Beatrice.

Both are great! I think Beatrice is more popular now, but Martha will become more popular in the next few years.

Haziedoll · 29/12/2011 13:39

I like Martha. Beatrice is more popular with the 5-7 age group and Martha more popular with the under 5s.

oikopolis · 29/12/2011 16:13

Beatrice. Prettier nicknames. Feminine sounding.

Martha sounds a bit stodgy to me. Perhaps it's the bible story where Jesus tells Martha off for being so obsessed with housework, that's the association somehow.

I do like Martha prn with a hard "t" - Marta - though. It may be the "th" sound that puts me off, just like in Thelma and Thea.

Martha!!

Both are pretty popular I think...

Ihatepeas · 29/12/2011 17:57

humblehippo · 29/12/2011 19:23

I actually love both! Use both? Martha Beatrice, Beatrice Martha...

LynetteScavo · 29/12/2011 19:30

Martha. Lovely, lovely, name.

Lilyloo · 29/12/2011 19:34

Martha i have one , she isn't in the least dull or dowdy ;)

Sinkingfeeling · 29/12/2011 20:09

I have a very lovely and undowdy Martha too. And dd3has Beatrice as a middle name, so both sound good to me.

sparklyflowers · 29/12/2011 20:25

Thanks everyone. Think we're heading for Beatrice...!

StickAForkInMeImDone · 31/12/2011 09:53

Martha definitely Smile

imaginethat · 31/12/2011 09:56

I love them both!

Northernlurker · 31/12/2011 09:56

Beatrice. Martha is so dull! I have a Bea - coming up to 5 now and whilst it is quite a popular name on here I'm yet to meet one in RL. Martha is more common I would say.
