Girls name-Avalina?

Thoughts on the name Avalina please?
Pronounced (Ava Leena)
My fave name for a girl has been Ava for ages but realise it is very common now. (which in truth doesnt bother me too much unless a friend/family member uses it before me-not a fan of using same name of someone close)
With popularity in mind, and also worry it feels a bit short for a full first name, I somehow thought of Avalina.
It must be an actual name but I didn't read it anywhere and have never heard of anyone using it (in real life or celebs etc) so I feel as though it's a bit made up!
What is everyone's thoughts? Does it sound like it could be a real name, and if so is it a nice name?!
Opinions appreciated x

I don't like it. It makes me think of Javelinas, which are wild and very aggressive piggy things, also known as skunk pigs, and peccaries.

LaFilleSurLePont · 23/12/2011 23:11

That's probably just me though.

Sorry I don't like it. Ava is a lovely name but suddenly it is everywhere! I ha it picked for DC2, who is now DS2.

PoppaDumDongMerrilyonHigh · 23/12/2011 23:17

makes me think of aveline from bread.

hermionestranger · 23/12/2011 23:18

She is a tart! Sorry. GrinWink

MatLeaveForever · 24/12/2011 10:00

Avalanche... sorry!

MissHonkover · 26/12/2011 19:41

It sounds like an ointment, sorry. Love Ava though, so I can see your motive. Grin

FoxyRevenger · 26/12/2011 19:50

It sounds a bit made up. sorry.

Zombi · 26/12/2011 20:02

I think it sounds very pretty to say out loud.

nkf · 26/12/2011 20:03

Evalina? Avalina sounds like a mispelt version.

LynetteScavo · 26/12/2011 20:05

Avalanche was the first thing to come to mind.

Ava isn't that common, and it's beautiful.

Zombi · 26/12/2011 20:08

nkf replacing an E for the A totally changes the pronunciation from Ae-va to Ee-va.

nkf · 26/12/2011 20:11

Zombi, I know. I suppose what I really mean is Evalina sounds like a proper name and Avalina sounds made up. Like two names pushed together without a hyphen.

FizzyChristmasFairyDust · 26/12/2011 20:16

How about Evelyn as an alternative? Lovely, not at all Out There and can be shortened to Evie or Eve if you want a NN for it.

BoxingBiddy · 27/12/2011 16:07

makes me think of Aveline from 'Bread'. Its a little bit made-up sounding.

AnotherMincepie · 27/12/2011 17:57

It's nice, but how about Evelina?
