Edith or Florence?

Baby girl due in 11 weeks, we already have 3 boys and she is our final child.

We are torn between:
Florence Edith
Edith Florence

Florence is a family name. Just to add we are not in the UK we are in Ireland where neither name is very popular at the moment.

Thanks

I prefer Florence (bugger the Cameron's)

wahwahwah · 20/12/2011 12:06

Florence, both are lovely though

TheChristmasTreeSurgeonsMate · 20/12/2011 12:17

I prefer Edith.

Montsti · 20/12/2011 12:25

Florence definitely! Not keen on Edith at all...

CandiceMariePratt · 20/12/2011 12:38

Edith is nicest

miaowmix · 20/12/2011 12:41

Edith Florence flows better. Both pretty!

3boysgirlontheway · 20/12/2011 12:56

Thanks for the opinions, I am leaning towards Edith myself. We don't generally use family names, so I don't want to make her a mini version of someone else iykwim?

Edith is gorgeous, that's on my list!

warmleatherette · 20/12/2011 17:19

Edith is DD's name, so obviously I think it's lovely. But then I don't want the name to go the way of Lily or Ruby so.... you should definitely go for Florence. Xmas Grin

3isamagicnumber · 20/12/2011 17:40

I prefer Edith - and congrats on a girl! Xmas Smile

mathanxiety · 20/12/2011 17:43

Edith by a long shot. Florence sounds a bit stodgy-Victorian to me.

guinealady · 20/12/2011 17:53

Florence was my favourite girl's name for years and years, as a favourite book when I was growing up was set in Florence, and my first trip there when I was 17 was magical.

It's not so much to my tastes now, but I still think it's lovely.

Duckhomesyndrome · 20/12/2011 18:02

Edith. Florence is becoming very popular...going the way of Ruby and Lily (as mentioned by warmleatherette) in my opinion. Edith is fab!

In Ireland too and called my 6mo Edith. There was another one born a day later and one a few weeks before!

I hadn't heard of any at all. But I don't care as I absolutely love the name! Go for it!

AnotherMincepie · 20/12/2011 19:01

I like both names, but think Florence Edith flows better. With Edith Florence it's a little awkward to go from "th" to "Fl".

jellybeans · 20/12/2011 20:06

Edith

humblehippo · 21/12/2011 00:21

Florence!

3boysgirlontheway · 21/12/2011 10:44

Thanks for all the replies. I am leaning towards Edith myself, and I think the votes are going her way!!
