Lovely

DesertOrchid · 15/12/2011 22:06

I love it, and nearly used it, but for the fact I couldn't find a decent nickname, and because I couldn't shake the fear that teenage boys, when she reached that age, would make jokes about 'feeling up Ophelia'. :-/

oikopolis · 15/12/2011 22:27

I like it, but it's sort of sad since the Shakespearean character drowned tragically/possibly killed herself, etc.

If you don't mind that association, then I say go for it.

Jojay · 15/12/2011 22:29

Lovely name , but I couldn't get past 'Ophelia Tits', and other such teasing fodder.

Hassledge · 15/12/2011 22:31

I think tragic heroine who will go mad and die in a river, surrounded by flowers.

MrsWifty · 15/12/2011 23:28

My grandma's cat was called Ophelia.

Kayano · 15/12/2011 23:31

I know a lovely 2 year old Ophelia, gorgeous name. They use Ophi for a nickname

EskimoPie · 16/12/2011 08:12

I know a girl called Ophelie, which is also lovely

bridgingtheabyss · 16/12/2011 18:53

Know a baby Ophelia, shortened to Fifi. Doesn't sound out of place amongst all the Olivia and Isabellas around. Tragic heroine but also featured in that famous beautiful pre-Raphaelite painting.

two4one · 16/12/2011 20:59

Sorry, I would find it hard to get past the "cop a feel o' yer"...

two4one · 16/12/2011 21:00

Jeez, Ophelie is even worse. Offally??? Awfully???

seren82 · 16/12/2011 21:23

Haha no it's o-fell-ee.

LinusVanPelt · 16/12/2011 22:37

What Hassledge said.

But though I wouldn't use it, I do really like the name, largely because of by The Band.

LaFilleSurLePont · 16/12/2011 22:48
