I am considering Astrid amongst other names but my DC are definitely not blond/ pale and blue eyed. I also don't have a Scandinavian/ German connection (except a v tentative one my marriage)!

So, can Astrid work on a darker than average child?
I am also considering Zinnia and Dahlia if anyone would like to comment on these or has a strong preference.

Yes it can work. It's a name I love. BUT I can't for the life of me think how to shorten it, beyond Ass. (I hated having a non nick-nameable name, so always look for nns!)
Dahlia is rather beautiful.

Prunella79 · 12/12/2011 12:53

colour has no bearing, it's a beautiful name, enjoy it

MamaLazarou · 12/12/2011 14:23

Yes, it would. Atrid is a lovely name.

Also love Dahlia.

MamaLazarou · 12/12/2011 14:23

Sorry - ASTRID.

elfyrespect · 12/12/2011 14:28

Astrud Gilberto's not blonde.

twopeasinapod · 12/12/2011 15:32

Thanks. I do kind of imagine a blond, pigtailed, nordic looking girl when I think of this name but reassuring that you all agree that can be used on anyone.
