Have been stuck for a while now between these two names... Alfie or Milo

I wanted to see his face before I decided but after seeing it I think they both could work!

Thoughts appreciated, comments and other name suggestions also welcomed!

Milo is a well known chocolate drink in many countries.

Alfie is very cutesy, a little too much so go me, sorry.

So neither IMO.

MaggieAtwood · 11/12/2011 08:43

Milo. There are loads of little Alfies. Entered the top ten from nowhere so although Alfred is a good, solid name I think Alfie will date quite badly.

scaevola · 11/12/2011 08:45

Milo is a Tweenie, and Alfie is a nn.

I'd go for Alfred.

AnotherMincepie · 11/12/2011 09:33

Definitely Milo. It's a full name whereas Alfie is a nickname. Nothing wrong with chocolate drink associations either :)

QOD · 11/12/2011 10:00

milo. tweenies aren't that big anymore. million of Alfie

poppydaisy · 11/12/2011 12:18

This is Milo: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milo_(drink). You never know in which country your ds might study, work or travel to one day. Why not choose a name that isn't a well known brand of drink in many countries?

Alfred if you must, but I'm not keen on Alfie at all, I'm afraid.

rachel234 · 11/12/2011 12:29

I prefer Alfred/Alf/Alfie as Milo is just too chocolatey and tweeny-like for me.

tummytickler · 11/12/2011 12:57

I am not keen on either, but at a push Alfred, with Alfie as a nn (but prefer Fred)

Both will date very badly IMO.

LaFilleSurLePont · 11/12/2011 13:29

Definitely Milo. I hate Alfie and it's overused.

OliviaMumsnet · 11/12/2011 13:36

I didn't know Milo was a Tweenie
It is DS2s middle name.
I still love it but glad I didn't use it as his first name.

usualsuspect · 11/12/2011 13:39

Milo

Alfie is awful

usualsuspect · 11/12/2011 13:40

oh and Alfred is bloody awful Grin

ben5 · 11/12/2011 13:41

Don't really like either sorry but love to drink Milo

ChocolatEtVin · 11/12/2011 13:44

The only Alfie I know is 18. He is also a goth with dyed black hair, piercings and dresses head to toe in black - he most definitely does not suit his name!

rendesr · 11/12/2011 14:02

Thanks for all the opinions!!!!

We have gone with Alfred and will use the nn Alfie when he is young.. lots of other nn's he can choose himself like Alf, Fred, Alfie or Al.

Where we live it isn't a common name at all, so I have no worries there! thanks again :)

Alfred nn Alfie's great... Much better than Milo anyway

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 11/12/2011 20:48

Alfie is my eldest!! Got pics on my profile if you want a nice picture of an Alfie.

Next door but one's dog is Milo!

Jack is my youngest.

I've never come across another Alfie, though I know it is in the top 10.

mathanxiety · 11/12/2011 20:53

Nice choice.

BoysBoysBoysAndMe · 11/12/2011 20:58

Love Harrison, Ryder, Aaron. Still not completely convinced on Jack, but I've never regretted Alfie.
