We will be naming our daughter Rose and have a double-barrelled surname beginning with D. Any suggestions for good middle names? many thanks for your suggestions.

Sophia / Eleanor / Esme / Matilda

Thanks qwert123 - I should have said we're trying to avoid names beginning with vowels - otherwise we get RED for example. I like Sophia and Matilda though.

Anyone any thoughts on these middle names or the following: Freya, Martha, Winter.

thanks

I like Rose Sophia and Rose Matilda but think Sophia Rose and Matilda Rose have a better ring to them.

Same with your suggestions. Something about the rhythm makes Rose feel like it should come second. I like Freya and Winter but with Rose as the middle name, not the first (though admittedly Winter Rose sounds a bit strange - but I like it!)

Hmmmm, how about:
Rose Bernadette
Rose Cassandra
Rose Giovanna
Rose Hermione
Rose Natalia

Eek, I don't know if those are any better. I was hoping long, fancy and foreign might make Rose sound like it should be at the front but no, my brain still wants to invert it.

Must be societal norms messing with my brain. Too many girls with Rose in the middle! Sorry not to be any help.

Can you cope with an "A" - RAD?
Rose Alexandra sounds lovely

Rose is beautiful and I think a longer middle name sounds lovely with it...

Rose Sophia - beautiful!
Rose Lucinda
Rose Louisa
Rose Josephine
Rose Seraphine/a
Rose Katherine/Catherine
Rose Georgiana
Rose Christabel
Rose Clementine
Rose Helena
Rose Bridget
Rose Clara
Rose Phoebe
Rose Marguerite
Rose Olivia
Rose Penelope
Rose Vivienne
Rose Xanthe

I love Rose Alexandra too! I like a lot of names that start with vowels.

We have a Rose Amelia. Have since found out that Amelia is a very popular name but hey ho!

NinkyNonker · 09/12/2011 22:22

Just seen vowel bit, sorry! She is RAC. Hmm

Anyway, I like Rose Winter...

Theas18 · 09/12/2011 23:04

You mustn't have a vowel as the "z" of Rose slides into a vowel as if it's all one- not attractive , unless you are really going for something alone the lines of "Rosanna " as the name.

Thirza (whistles.... wouldn't want to be outing myself would I !)

MrsJangleBalls · 09/12/2011 23:16

Well we went for Rose Emily, it's very similar initials to mine so I don't mind the vowel in the middle, I've never been bothered by it.
