Just wondering what mn opinion on Leo as a boy's name. I am really struggling to find any boys name I really like. We have a complicated surname and I want him to have a name that will be easy to say and spell. Do you think Leo is ok in it's own right or should we have a fuller name, like Leonardo?

If there are any other suggestions for strong masculine boys name I would be grateful to know. Thanks!

Leo is a full name on its own, (Leo Tolstoy, for e.g.) and opens you up to buying cute lion-motif things for your baby boy....

it is my very favourite boys name.

I love love love it. :) its top of my boys name list for DC2 should there be one and should it be a boy :)

Ooh 2 positive responses thanks! Quite unusual for mn, in my experience Wink

I am hoping it's the sort of name that will carry him through for babyhood to adult without sounding strange at any age.

I think it is a brilliant name.

It's a good name and fine on its own.

It's a great name in its own right.

I have a Leo, it is a fab name. And will also be easy for him to learn to spell!

Yay thank you for starting this thread, you saved me a job! I'm due in 2 weeks and this current favourite boys name, but I have the same questions as you about it. I think we might go for it, probably Leo Benjamin Smile.

Leo Tolstoy was Lev. Leo's the anglicised version.

If my DD had been a boy, she would have been a Leo! I'm keeping it in reserve if I ever have a DS. I think it's strong, well known without being too popular, cute as a baby but fine for an adult. And buying cuddly lions would be nice too.
